The Mii. At the rate it's going, we're sure it'll be Time's Person of the Year or something soon. And the church is starting to get that popularity, apparently, as a Jesus Mii is being used to advertise Easter Sunday services for the Mission Bay Community Church. The church itself is located in the San Francisco area and, to our knowledge, the first of its kind to actually be hip to what the kids think is, well ... hip. Kudos to the church on finding a smart way to advertise their services.
For all of you celebrating Easter today, we hope you have a safe and happy holiday.

I just wanted to say I appreciate you guys referring to it as Easter. This is the first fanboy blog I came across that has referred to the holiday as it is, rather than "Bunny Day" or some other "non-offensive" title.

That's cuz the bloggers for Wii Fanboy have a pair, and realize that most people won't be offended by the truth of what the holiday is called. That is actually genius, though, with the Mii Jesus. Happy Easter everybody!

Are you one of those great members of my community who are crippled by the use of "X-Mas" and wear a 1984 sweatshirt with "Remember the Reason for the Season"?

Everyone should really check out the Church's website. It seems really chill and laidback, compared to most churches I go to that pretty much tell me I'm going to hell at the door. Its good to see a church that is open to all walks of life and simply wants to unite people under a common belief in basic good.

I actually made a Jesus and a Baby Jesus Mii a long time ago, I used to always enter them into the Check Mii Out channel for random things hoping other sick people would think it's funny and would vote for them

Then
"Ummm..."
And eventually
"... O__o"
... as sacreligious as it seems, it definitely gets the kids into it... except, you might as well have Jesus Power Ranger... or possibly Jesus Pokemon?
>_> What are the kids gonna' do? Install a Bible into their Wiis?
.......... that'd be kinda' cool.

If you are complaining about a Jesus Mii, you might as well complain about how EVERY depiction of Jesus in the United States and most European countries make him look Anglo-Saxon and white. At least the Mii doesn't contribute to the bigotry and race-centric minds of our ass-backwards culture.

I don't think it's Jesus in Mii form that's so bad so much as how blatantly gimmicky it is. I hate when churches do things like this and have free iPod giveaways and other crap in an effort to get people to go to their churches. It just seems so... secular.
But yeah, I'm not a fan of the blonde hair blue-eyed Jesus.

I don't really see this as an effort to get people in their church. All they did was use a picture of a Mii Jesus. They aren't giving away a free Wii. Someone was just being creative. What's the problem?

*To vidguy:
Yeah it is incredibly ridiculous when they make Jesus white, but the fact that Miisus (as Blue_Falcon puts it) exists on an ad for a church's easter day to get children, is like...... having candy to make children want to come to their brother's birthday: The kids are supposed to have respect to go to the brother's birthday by themselves, but now they need candy to go there??
And what's worse: I just compared Jesus to candy!
... candy never rose from the dead, vidguy! CANDY NEVER DID!!!
:P
*To AnOffday:
...creative? If people wanted an ad for their church, it would've been more professional than this... an ad with Miisus in it should be in a YOUTH GROUP flyer! ... >_> To try to be "hip"/"modern" enough to use Miis doesn't mean you should put it on your church's ad.
...it's false advertising too! :D With an ad like that, you'd think the sermon's pamphlets would be sent to you via Wii. And that when you come in, you get the pastor's Wii friend code! And possibly even a daily passage sent to your Wii! Possibly even a showcase with all the 12 disciples in their Wii-form!
Without that, that ad is just blasphemy! :P
... Jesus would SO play the Wii.

Color me stupid, but does anyone still believe in short stories written after the fact by people who lived in a time when our flat planet was the center of the universe?
I guess if you make a Mii, they will come.

It popped into my head about the over 1 billion Christians but decided I wouldn't be able to appropriately handle that. So instead I'll asking you to please look at World Scripture: A Comparative Anthology of Sacred Texts.

sheesh, it seems a lot of people hate Christians these days.
Brendon - You know, the Bible does talk about the world being round...
Omen - I think the closest thing you'll find to a Biblical RTS would be the left behind PC game. I think that's more spiritual warfare instead of taking over land. I hope this isn't the way you view the jewish nation...

You're absolutely correct. The Bible is spot on!
I suppose I should also abide by "Whatsoever goeth upon the belly, and whatsoever goeth upon all four, or whatsoever hath more feet among all creeping things that creep upon the earth, them ye shall not eat; for they are an abomination."
Thank God I'm already a vegetarian, or there'd be hell to pay!

Brendon - There's a reason for everything. We're talking about Old Testament Israel here. In this passage, God called His nation (Israel) to follow his commandments, and stay true to Him. The surrounding nations ate the things Israel was told not to eat in the passage in question. The reason for this was to keep the nation of Israel together, not mixed with any other cultures or idols that would keep them from their devotion to God.
We don't see this kind of serious devotion because with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, all nations are included into the picture. While Israel had to keep themselves pure, Jesus has made everything pure. I doubt you're going to read this far, but I'm trying my best to explain why it's written here.
