More like Whoa-kami
The latest set of art displays Okami's beautiful environments, which put the backdrops in games that are not Okami to shame. If these don't make you want to play the game, then you have probably just completed Okami within the last day or so.

I am all over this game like Issun on Sakuya.
That was incredibly nerdy. I'm sorry.

"Shinier, Browner look"
o_O;
I thought it was a bad thing if a game looked like a steaming pile.

Um... it is. If you look again at what they wrote, I;m sure you'll see that they said Okami is "how we always imagine 'next generation' games to look, RATHER THAN the shinier, browner look new games are going for now." (Emphasis mine.)
That is, they think OTHER new games look "shinier, browner" (I'm lookin' at you Gears of War!), not Okami.

No, man, you missed the point. The adjectives seemed to describe a literal piece of fresh poo, to be blunt about it. BROWN, SHINY. I understood that they were siding with the colorful graphics (which are very awesome).
Personally, I think both ends of the spectrum, realistic and stylistic, can be done beautifully. I just thought it was funny that the median example of video game beauty could now actually be described as shiny and brown, two adjectives that a) aren't normally seen next to each other in normal speech, and b), upon closer, cruder inspection, could be describing newly created fecal matter.
Sorry for the confusion.
