We've gotten a lot of e-mails lately from people who are having trouble getting into their user profiles -- apparently, passwords aren't working. Never fear! We're aware of the problem and we've asked that it be looked into. We hope to be able to report a fix soon. For now, the only known solution, if you must change your profile details, is to use a new login name. Which is to say there's no solution for the moment, but bide a while and we'll get you fixed up.While we have your attention, we've also got a little announcement about our recent casting call. Did you apply? If so, please be patient; the process of winnowing through applications takes a while. We've received a lot of e-mails asking when we might make our decision, but please keep in mind that it hasn't even been two weeks since we stopped taking submissions, and we have a vast and incredible pile of applicants to sift through. We'll get through 'em, don't worry. It just won't be today. We're picky.

Ok, I know this may sound stupid but, how to I sign up for an account. I can't find it anywhere. I don't really like having to confirm my email for each comment so I don't comment as much as I would like to. If I sign up for an account will the 'confirm email for comment' feature still be there? Thanks for the answers in advance.

When you send a message the first time they send you an email that confirms that comment and with that email is a password and from then on out you use the section to the right for email and password. I use Firefox as my browser and after I entered that information you are asked if you want the browser to remember it and click yes and you will never have to enter any information again.

I've actually never been able to access my user profile...and as much as I love my man, Paper Mario, I'd love to change that picture... I've had the account for nearly a year now...

I had some problems, but I head-butted the monitor so hard that the shockwave of pain traveled through my modem, across the internet, and hit the server until it cried. It knows who's boss now.
As for the job, I was going to apply, but then I realized that I'm a passably good writer at best (proof at the end of this post), and that there were going to be people applying for this job that were far more talented than me. So I chickened out. I don't take rejection well, from an emotional standpoint and all.
THE PROOF: croove55.blogspot.com
This is the only time I'll post a link to my blog, sorry for the shameless link.

There's a work-a-round to this. Each of the weblogs sites now can link to each person's profile. NWF's profiles are having trouble but just replace nintendowiifanboy in the url into joystiq or blogsmith. As in if I click my profile from this post I would get the url
http://www.nintendowiifanboy.com/profile/726862/
but wouldn't be able to login from there. So I switch out nwf for joystiq or blogsmith:
http://www.joystiq.com/profile/726862/
http://www.blogsmith.com/profile/726862/
where I successfully entered my profile.

Sorry for the double post, but the actual method I used to change my avatar was to login through joystiq. Make a post there, click your name, then login. It's slow to update the picture, you might have to upload twice, but I managed to make it work. For some reason, I couldn't login PERIOD from NWF or DSF, but Joystiq worked, albeit SLOWLY.

Well, I hope we won't need workarounds much longer. I hear they're working on a fix as we speak.
If you never got an activation for your profile at all, definitely try commenting through Joystiq. That was the original problem we had with the profiles, and it worked then. I thought that was fixed, but I guess maybe not? As for contacting us, over in the sidebar, there's a teeny tiny link under "Resources," above the RSS stuff and the Blogsmith logo. You can get to us from there, or from the "about" page.

So, what if the email we got to confirm our comment didn't contain a password?
