I sent away for four Wii remote jackets. I put two of them on.
It depends on the game I'm playing whether or not I use a remote with a jacket or not.

When you have two kids under 10 years old who have dropped the Wiimote more than once, then you will know how indespensible these sleeves really are. They have saved me more than $100 in not having to replace them. Plus, I don't think they look as bad as people have been saying.

I had the same problem, didnt get mine, but everyone I told got theirs. I reordered it and got them in a couple of weeks. I'm going to chalk that one up to a server problem. Theres a new thought, Nintendo having online issues. I guess they are really just that bad at running online content.

I've gotten so used to it that seeing Wiimotes without jackets seems almost like they're naked!
They gather quite a bit of dust under the edges of the front, mind..

I just recently got my Wii, so both my Wii Remotes came with said jackets. I hate to use them. They're hideously ugly. They feel like a helmet for a retarded person.
The only time I use them is for swinging in Wii Sports because I dont use the wrist strap. Its less of a pain to remove the jacket when you dont need it than the strap.. and I hate the strap.

I know what you mean, and I don't know why people are voting you down(I voted you up). Unless you have little kids, I don't know why you would use the jacket. I never sent away for one and thought they looked gay from the get go. I have friends who have them on their WiiMotes and I guess I don't mind, not my Wii. I recently took off the strap on my WiiMote because it keeps banging on the side(I actually put on the strap you get with a DSPhat) I figure I am responsable enough to not throw the WiiMote. Oh, well, to each their own.

I believe it was the comment about the helmet that's getting this voted down. The jacket is rather...bulky, yes, but that's a pretty inappropriate thing to compare it to.

Just curious, do you stare at your Wiimote while playing? I'm fine with the jacket, and I don't stare at it. Maybe you're a little too concerned with appearances as opposed to how comfortable it is. If you don't like how it feels, that's different though.

So, when you guys first mentioned this, I registered my Wii on the website and ordered four, but they never arrived. Turns out that my registration never went through (as everyone and their brother were probably ordering them at the same time). Thus, I re-registered last week and ordered four. They should arrive later this week!
I plan on using them... I have a few friends that have them and they feel pretty comfortable. I need to get something similar for my VC controller, now...

I don't have a problem with the Wiimote jackets. I remembered while playing MP3 that my hand would start to hurt after awhile, but I haven't noticed that since putting the jackets on.

really? you guys haven't gotten yours yet? Mine were delivered only two weeks after I put the order in. I think the Wii jackets are comfortable, and I haven't taken it off since I first put it on.

Agreed! I ordered 4, received 4 not long after, and haven't taken them off except to replace batteries.
A friends four-yr old was Wii bowling and the Wiimote came flying across the room and bounced on the floor like a rubber ball. I just smilled and showed him how to use the strap (again).
In the past there would be a *smash* and batteries and cover would go flying everywhere and hope that it still worked when putting it all back together.
Kids have a problem keeping the strap on their tiny wrists (the straps are STILL poorly designed - need a locking clamp or something) so the jackets are great!

My Wii came with the jackets, so I'm used to them. But I've tried playing with them removed and I just don't like it. The jacket offers comfort, added grip, and a protective coating for my new TV in case of slippage. I like it.

I ordered four and am using all four. I had actually bought some gloves from Circuit City and HATED them. Those multi colored things that make the buttons impossible to push ... worthless. But these are fantastic - comfortable, protective. I guess I echo the post above about the young kids; I have three sons, six years old and under. I used to have a heart attack every time they were using a wiimote, now I'm fine with it. And honestly, I like the look, I like the feel, and I like the openness around the buttons (unlike other gloves). They're easy to put on and take off, and they're free! What's not to like?

Like the wrist strap and jacket. Only idiots who can't hold something in there hand properly should use either item.
I've only dropped my wii-mote once, and it was back when Excite truck first came out, since I was trying to get multiple spins during a race against my brother. He also dropped his as well. Even then, no damage was done to the wii-motes.
I understand why Nintendo wants to cover their own arses but seriously, you don't see Microsoft enforcing filters for xbox live chats. Nintendo needs to stop thinking that the over protective parent's will sue them.

I got rid of the wrist strap (I'm not into baseball and it never occurred to me that you'd have to fling your Wiimote around the room for whatever purpose) and now I use the sleeve only. It's a bit ugly but it gives a nice feel to the Wiimote. For a person with big hands like me it adds some grip too. I know that I will get rid of the sleeve for a while when Mario Kart Wii comes out.

I ordered four but I only use one regularly because two of my remotes are typically in my guitar shells and another is in the zapper. I like the sleeves as they provide a more pleasing texture and a better grip. My only complaint is that they make it harder to replace the batteries.

No. I never ordered one. It seemed unnecessary. All that shipping, packaging, just for a couple bits of plastic.
???
Not great for the environment.
Anyway, I go bareback because I'm built like that.

I can't imagine using the Wiimote without these condoms on. They add extra bulk which makes it so much nicer to hold. Especially if you're holding it NES style.

I sent for 4 of them from Nintendo when they were announced, and got them soon after. I actually really like them, they give the wiimotes much more grip, as well as making them a bit larger (I have giant gorilla hands). The only annoyance I have with them is when changing batteries or having to remove the jackets in order to put the remote in some type of peripheral like the Guitar Hero guitar. Other than that, I'm very happy with them.

Received mine, but after using them for only one week, I had to remove them. I like the feel of the Wiimote as it is. The sleeves, while definately providing a lot of protection, distract me too much while playing.
I have tried other skins, but with the same conclusions...

I ordered enough for four remotes when I got my Wii, but I don't usually bother to them on. Recently I've been playing games that don't ever put the controller in any real danger (Brawl, for example) so it seems silly to go through the hassle when I need them off for the nyko charger.

They aren't the prettiest thing in the world... but I don't spend all day looking at my Wii remote either. But having big hands, they do increase the comfort factor quite a bit. Then again, it's a pain in the arse to swap out batteries now. But I don't worry so much about tossing them around anymore...
SO CONFLICTED!!

I have gotten used to them but I hate them for games that require you to hold the remote sideways. I also have no problems with the looks and do find them to be comfortable. I also (like others) have kids so they are a must when the kids play the Wii.

My Wii came with the jackets. I used them for a while and liked the grip they offer but don't care about the drop protection. Recently I switched to the Nyko rechargeable battery packs. They are kind of rubbery so that works perfect for me. No more jackets.

Jackets??? Never ordered them...there are no kids in our house.
I am still using the ORIGINAL straps that came with my launch Wii. I have the replacement straps (the ones with the thicker cord, but not the clip lock), but until I see some signs of the thin connecting cord fraying, I will be keeping those put away.

I sent away for two, got them, opened up the packaging and put it on just once for about 60 seconds. I think they are pretty darn ugly, myself. But since I have (1) never gotten too physical with it and (2) don't have children, I've taken the wrist straps off of mine.
And since I'm careful how wild I swing it, I've not had a single problem.

I should also mention that I've purchased a silicone skin for it and put that on both the remote and nunchuck. That really helps keep my grip steady on it.
