Sure enough, against all reasonable odds, the footage above and after the break has actually managed to raise our excitement levels for the game -- we now particularly want to try out the Wiimote-specific mode (especially with three other people), and were delighted to hear that online play is totally -- that's totally -- lag-free (despite Josh being based in the U.S. and his opponents being in Japan). Finally, we were less than delighted to learn about Josh's record online -- just four wins from 35 matches. We suspect our own tally will be crushingly similar come May.

No score attack? Blasphemy! That was one of my favorite additions to Dr. Mario 64. I was really hoping for online leaderboards. Score attack was really great because it was possible to win even if you didn't finish first by doing a ton of combos. It was almost like getting points for style.
I'm also a bit bummed that they left out all of the wacky characters from Dr. Mario 64. I had grown to love Hammerbot, Silky, Mad Sciencestein, Rudy, and of course Wario, who looked like he was doing something obscene when he lost.
It's interesting that they added fast dropping. That should add an element of speed and precision. There was nothing more frustrating than trying to bring a pill down as fast as possible only to have it pull to one direction or the other at the last second and land in the wrong spot.

Holy crap, this looks amazing. I never played the 64 version but I like the online flash versions and I used to absolutely LOVE playing on the NES. I'll definitely buy this when it launches in the US.

This looks great. How come he said it was 1000 Wii points though? I thought it was announced a few months ago at the price point of 800 Wii points? Well I think it may be worth 1000, I just want to save my 200 points! haha

Love it, except for the fact that they could have brought over the SSBB remix of "Chill". I have always had an enormous infatuation with that song, but the remix is a masterpiece. It's difficult to explain how serious I am. That song is one of the top five reasons to get SSBB from my point of view.
SO AWESOME.
