Okay, so that title is (possibly) the last time we're going to be snide about Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. The band might not be our cup of tea, but heck, Guitar Hero is fun, and the not-Aerosmith tracks are actually showing real promise for non-Aerosmith fans.
However, just in case you forgot who the real headline act is, Activision cooked up a video of the title in action, and it oozes Aerosmith. There's plenty of bragging about the band's (admittedly very impressive) achievements, before we cut to 3D models of Stephen Tyler and his fellow grandfathers bouncing about the stage to "Sweet Emotion." Actually, the rubber-lipped, leathery-skinned Tyler proves to be perfect fodder for a caricature -- visually at least, he and Joe Perry seem to be a good fit for a Guitar Hero game.
Gameplay-wise -- and we barely need to mention this, but we shall -- it looks identical. And why not? It's a winning formula.

Hopefully you can buy this one with the guitar as well as standalone, being as Rock Band is apparently screwing us.

this is more of an expansion to guitar hero 3 so i don't think they will include guitars with it. http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=230262

rock band in any form is still better than gh. i used to be an avid fan of gh, but rock band is just so much better. especially since it feels more like your hitting the notes instead of gh3's stupid delay with the notes and horrible note charts. too bad the wii version isn't going to be like the ps3 and 360 ones.... walks to ps3 drums and plays some boston :)

I'll be buying this instead of Rock Band, out of spite that Harmonix won't use GH3 guitars in RB (and its not Activisions fault, either).

How is it "not Activision's fault"? They have blocked Harmonix's attempts at guitar interoperability in the past, and tried to make Harmonix pay for the privilege of GH3 controller compatibility.

finally someone is backing me up. thanks jc. and yes us ps3 users are in the same situation with our gh guitars not working for rock band. harmonix has a patch ready to go, but activision won't let them release it without some $$$$ going to them so it is activision's fault.

The video makes the game look better and even being a big aerosmith fan I'm still on the fence especially since it drops in the same month as another rock oriented game...It's up to Harmonix to make the Wii version of Rockband not suck if they want my money, I'm already annoyed about guitar compatability now if you make this all PS2ey with no world tour or create a character I'll be rockin out with Aerosmith this june

for the eagle-eyed: you can see "max's kansas city" printed above the stage in one of the clips. that's pretty cool, if you know anything about aerosmith's history. here's hoping that signals the inclusion of a lot of 1970s aerosmith stuff.

You know, I constantly hear about how people wish that this band or that band would cave in and let developers use their music for Rock Band or Guitar Hero. Then a band makes basically their entire catalog available, and it's called a cash-in. How many people do you think would call it a "cash-in" if "Guitar Hero: Led Zeppelin" got made? And I don't recall anyone raising a fuss when it was announced that the entire "Who's Next" album would appear (eventually) on "Rock Band."
Seriously, I think all this talk stems from the popularity of Aerosmith bashing. Music taste is subjective, folks. If you don't like it... don't get the game. Whining about games one could easily ignore and not purchase seems, to me, to be on par with people who complain about tv shows when they could just change the channel.

Another GH game and the drummer still looks like a damn robot. The crowd looks fake as ever too. They all look like cardboard sprites cut out of Mario Kart 64, even on the PS3, which is supposed to be a "graphical powerhouse" according to $ony and their fanboys.
I say Harmonix is the best at doing these games. Activision, Neversoft, and Red Octane can all go suck a dick for ruining the GH franchise for me. ROCK BAND FTW.
