You know, we at Wii Fanboy never really stop to thank our millionaire and billionaire readers. We appreciate the fact that you take the time every day to silently nod toward your butler. signaling him to load Wii Fanboy on your 24K gold laptop as you sit inside your jacuzzi full of $100 bills and rare, priceless rubies. We're thankful you come here each and every day!
So, here's something for you. A fellow is selling his entire NES collection (739 games!) and, as of the time of this post, the highest bid is a little over 8 grand. What with you being a billionaire and all, though, we're sure you'll be fine.
Given this is a morning topic of discussion and the possibility that you might be reading this and aren't filthy rich, we ask you: how many NES games do you own? Got rid of your NES long ago or did you hold onto it and cherish it like a good little gamer?

I never owned an NES. I grew up a SEGA kid. I probably had about 10-15 Genesis games. They're still in a box back home and only about half of them work anymore. We sold our SMS and some awesome games (Phantasy Star I, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, etc.) shortly after getting the Genesis to a kid we knew for $70 bucks. Seemed like a good trade at the time, but I kick myself over it now.

that's a lil over 10 bucks a cart. Little pricey, no? He must have some real rare ones in there...
I got rid of my NES a long time ago. It was brand new looking and I'm sure I made someone very happy. Was I silly to sell it?... maybe. But I didn't use it anymore, and it wasn't right for a system that could make someone happy to sit and collect dust. It made my childhood very happy so it served it's purpose in our household. For the few games I miss, there's always VC.. now if they would just release RoadBlasters I'd be a happy camper. :)

My parents never let me have a NES. (And they never knew why I always wanted to sleep over my friends' houses.) I was finally able to get a Genesis after years of pleading - can't tell you how many hours I wasted on Altered Beast. Pretty sure I still have the thing around somewhere.

Well, being an Arab and having Arab parents, they always considered games a waste of time and I bought into game quite late...I started with a SNES and had only 4 games on it. Then I moved to a PS1 but again, only had like 20-30 games on it, and that's because it was modded and I bought all my games as pirated copies...Sad yes, but very, very true...I bought a gamecube not knowing what I was doing and bought only 6 games during its 5 years of life and 2 of them were the shittiest available on the system. I actually had Harry Potter 2 and sonic DX. Now however for the Wii, I am a much different person. With 8 games (9 if you include Wii Sports) and many more to come that I will more than likely buy and some more which i will buy after their price drops, I expect this to be my most game-rich system yet, with 5 games and counting on the VC (I just recently bought a CC and decided it is the best controller ever and that I should buy into more VC games as they are the funnest things I have played in a while plus they are VERY practical) and god knows how many WiiWare titles I'm going to buy into.
So that's my story of why I don't have the NES,but I am experiencing on what I missed out on with the VC. Thank you nintendo :D

I still have my original NES that I played as a kid and about 5 games. I still bust out Super Mario Bros 1 from time to time. It amazes me how quick I can beat it when I warp.

Held onto and cherished until 2007. Sold it along with my SNES, N64, Atari 2600 because I'm a broke college student. Wound up getting a PS3 with the money I got for it. I had 50 some-odd NES games, 4 SNES games (got the console right before N64 came out...) 35 Atari games, and 20 or so N64 games...
Cherished for a while but with the virtual console, and the fact that my NES didn't work properly, I figured why not, right?

Of course I still have my NES (and made my husband's parents search their house to get me his) so all counted I have two NES, two light guns and 100+ games. Will I ever part with them? Never. Besides, we don't have WiiWare here yet so I have to get my Dr. Mario fix somewhere right?

Still have my NES and I still play it.
Ah, I remember clutching that controller in my pudgy "I'm not old enough to read" hands. Technically, it was my parent's system, but around the time I was 3 or 4, they started to buy me some games that I could handle. Damn, I also remember pushing in the Zelda games and just having fun wandering around. I was too young to understand what the hell I was doing, but I had fun killing things.
I used to watch mom play Super Mario Bros. 3 because I wanted to see frog-Mario.

I got rid of my original NES long ago, but when a friend of mine's girlfriend bought him one for his birthday a while back, I had a fit of jealousy and had to go get another one. I picked up a Top Loader NES from a Gamestop (when they still had such things) and a handful of games. I've got around 25 games right now and another front loading system. I'll probably wind up buying more games from ebay over time. What can I say... NES is my all time favorite!

Is it just me or is this "collection" sold every few months? I swear I've seen this pic and heard this story of "739 games!" at least twice before.
Sadly, my NES was sold at a garage sale when I was eight. By that time I had the SNES and my parents didn't see the point in keeping it. I was old enough to stash my SNES and Genesis though and still have them in working order plus a dozen games for each.

*ahem* .... *angrily looks at gf*
Well, anyways, ignore the sabotage from my gf.
The first NES I had wasn't really mine, it was my uncle's if I remember correctly...
There's the SNES... and it's somewhere in the garage. ...we've moved so much it's impossible to track it down to WHICH BOX it really is in... too many boxes.
-back to NES- We didn't have that many games, just the basics... In fact, we never really had that many games until post-Sega-Saturn... though, right now my Wii game collection will soon beat my ol' xbox collection... and after that, it'll beat my DS collection, then after that, it'll beat my PS2 collection...

I have my toploader nes, snes, n64, and gamecube set up in our spare room, along with at least thirty games for each. I should probably point out that most of those games and the SNES were acquired after I got to college. My mom liked playing Atari and NES, but Sonic made her sick and she gave up on games for good around 1994. I had 5 nes games, 5 genesis games, and maybe 7 N64 games before I started buying games for myself. And for the record, the genesis is still with me with the 4 games I have left( someone stole my vectorman) and the atari with its 22 games are still at my parents house. My little brother tells me my mom still throws in River Raid from time to time

It's called having something more permanent.
Emulations feel SO temporary... and incomplete.
Talk about your free software all ya' want, but as long as Nintendo sees how much a certain game is bought and downloaded on their VC network... the more they'll consider making a remake.
And that's enough to keep me going.

The quality of most roms on the internet sucks. Thats why you buy it legally. Finding good quality N64 roms in next to impossible.

I still have mine in the basement somewhere. I didn't have many games. The 3 Mario games and duck hunt was basically all I played.
I wish Gamestop still sold the old games and systems. That's what raised it to above average store. There's enough places selling the new stuff already.

Some Gamestops still do it, but they usually have to be larger than the usual mall-store-size.
There's also Play N Trade, they're strangely spreading throughout the nation... they usually sell old-school stuff (I still have my eye on some old Gameboy games).
Oh, and if you live in Southern California... there's the legendary: GAME DUDE
The ultimate warehouse videogame store. I bought a working SegaSaturn there (the memory doesn't work anymore, but that doesn't stop me from using cheat codes to get back all my stuff)! Playing Guardian Heroes again felt so good... :)

My NES and Genesis busted. My N64 is on the blink. I have several husks that used to be PSX and PS2's. I came into possession of a SNES with SMW I already bought on VC. And my brother just returned with my Wii from camping and it overheats now.

Bought my first NES about 4 years ago, since I never owned one as a kid. I just played at my friends' places. Since buying one, I now have around 80 games, plus a lightgun and the NES advantage controller.

I think I have roughly 400 or so games for my NES. Some in boxes, some not, but all playable and in near-perfect condition.
I spent alot of time collecting them, and ended up focusing more on the systems themselves. Wonder what my collection would go for on the net..

I got my NES in 89 while in kindergarten. I still have it (with the manuals and box) and all my games. The system is actually plugged into my TV and sitting proudly beside the other four Nintendo consoles. I was playing it just the other day because I randomly felt like I needed some Mario 3.
