Featuring charts from across the region, Another Week in Europe documents the buying habits and quirky tastes of a whole continent of Wii lovers.Unlike reigning full beard freestyle world champion Elmar Weisser of Germany (who we admire fiercely), we have mixed feelings about this week's European sales charts.
For example, while we're heartened by the success of debutant Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (5th in the UK, and the Wii edition supplemented sales of other versions across Europe -- not bad for a game that appeared on every other console last October), we're irked by the flat performance of House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return (15th in Britain, and nowhere to be seen in the charts of mainland Europe).
Europe, if you're reading, stop buying Game Party (7th in UK), Smarty Pants (10th in Spain), and Mario & bleeding Sonic (high everywhere) and let's get something half-decent up there for a change. Sega Bass Fishing should make next week's chart, so that'd be a good place to start -- let's have that top ten somewhere, please. Sigh. At least Elmar will never fail to impress us. I almost picked up HOTD, yesterday in town.
..
To be honest, I'm not really sure why I didn't!
Still, Jericho season 1 was only £35 in HMV..

I love the House of the Dead series and I like Sega Bass Fishing, but why do you want them to sell so well? They are the laziest of lazy last-gen ports and that's something we surely shouldn't be encouraging.
On the other hand; got my copy of Pro Evo the other day. It's so cool. I had my doubts about the new system, but it works really well, a real triumph of Wii control (and the commercial with football/soccer greats Ian Wright and Michael Owen is really funny too).

yea really... you bash an original game like Mario and Sonic.. which is fun and new. but you're rooting for sales on two games that debuted in the console scene on a dreamcast? I'm a huge sega fan.. yes I love those games, but common. I'd rather have a ps2 port. All I'm saying is, I'd rather cheer for original even if flawed efforts than a tried and true game from 1999.

I'll agree with Orion...
But I'm shocked that such an awful game like that GT demo thing got so many number 1 spots....I'd never even heard of the game till now(well recently).....And yes I've played it....or tried to...disappointed....
And I think it's all the old people/mums/kids that are buyig or getting games bought for them...hence smarty pants and the like doing well...Oh and I got HOTD...for £15 I wouldn't have paid anymore....
