One person has apparently created a hack for the Wii, allowing for the transport of the Virtual Console games from one system to another. As you can see in the video above, the process does not look all too difficult, however there is room for discrepancy. The video was uploaded to YouTube by user dannyml, and merely says "Hacked The Virtual Console." And there is a noticeable lack of seeing the copied game run for us to be comfortable labeling this as believed.
So excuse us while we go hang on a fence.
[Thanks, craig!]

Apparently the person who the hack came from has a pretty good reputation so I'd consider this believable.

And cue Nintendo to crackdown on the homebrew scene...now.

It again uses the same method that Trucha signer uses, which is the same method Datel's Freeloader uses, which is patched in the IOS37 system update, which is already loaded onto an updated Wii anyway. The Wii doesn't boot up this menu yet (it maintains old versions in the firmware for backwards compatibility with old games, I guess), so as soon as a game and the system menu are updated to use it, it'll already be useless.
Basically, it seems preparations are underway to make this hack useless, but for now it still works.

I should say, it is believed to, because the person who did this won't be releasing details of how it was done.

All that video showed was the person doing a system update and when the Wii reset a Virtual Console game was suddenly on their Menu...
They could very easily have edited the video to make it seem like an update causes a VC game to appear out of thin air. A little explanation as to how that is remotely possible would be nice.

A neat effort, if it wasn't faked, it could open the door for freeware VC games
However, it will most likely only encourage Nintendo to crack down stronger

Why are all cool hack videos done on Spanish Wiis?
If this were real, it would be awesome if they shipped discs for half price of the VC Game...Or if you could get 2-3 VC games on one disc.

Heck I liked switching languages in Smash Bros Brawl, due to that fact that I can somehow read Japanese, too. But seriously, how can one copy a VC game, let alone get the wii to detect it? It's a hoax. Let's see some proof. Next thing you know is someone gets a FF3/Chrono Trigger ROM working on the VC.

Except it's not a hoax. It's really simple, considering we already have a homebrew Wii channel and SNES emulator channel. And the way he did it was easily explained too. Patched an IOS update to install a virtual console game on to the system. This really is not hard people, stop calling it a hoax. If this particular video is a hoax, the way he showed doing it and the way I just explained is really a way that we ("The Scene") know can be done, we just haven't tried it yet (Too busy with our awesome new homebrew channel).
