Out of nowhere, Amazon has kicked off another day devoted to Wii bargains! Similar to February's series of Gold Box deals, the online retailer has put up a bargain for the day -- Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for $29.99.
Four additional "Lightning Deals" will also be posted at 6:00 AM, 10:00 AM, 2:00 PM, and 6:00 PM PST, each sale limited to its four-hour block. Most of these games sell out within minutes, though, so you'll want to start refreshing the Gold Box page around those times.
Amazon has put up clues for the mystery Lightning Deals; we've accompanied them with our guesses!
- 6:00 AM: "The hunt is on for big game." - Cabela's Big Game Hunter
- 10:00 AM: "Wii will, Wii will rock you!" - Guitar Hero 3
- 2:00 PM: "Muster your squad to fight the terrorist threat." - Ghost Squad
- 6:00 PM: "Get your hardball fix without worrying about rainouts." - MLB Power Pros/MLB 2k8/The Bigs

I've known about this since yesterday as I was told by someone who knew days earlier, and I was wondering when the news would show up here. I was going to email some people at Nintendo Wii Fanboy yesterday to let them know about this, but every time I've ever emailed someone from this web site with some news I found out I've never once gotten a reply or saw the news on the site.

This is quite interesting that they are doing it again. I want them to do Fire Emblem, then I will get it, if the games wouldnt sell out in less than 5 minutes.

8 minutes and only 10% claimed. That has to be some sort of record (then again, Mario & Sonic is still available after more than 10 hours!)!

I stand corrected: the 6 AM deal did not sell out (28% claimed) within 4 hours.
What? No hunters playing Wii?

No kidding. The last batch of games each sold out within one minute.

IIRC, you have to click on the discounted tab when the game is made available through the Gold Box to get the price. You also have to checkout within a certain amount of time to claim the discount; I think it's a few hours.

is there a way to tell if these guitar hero discs are fixed with regard to the mono stereo problem

That's one of the things that prevented me from purchasing it for the $65 for this deal.

I asked the same question on the Amazon forums, and they've confirmed that the bundles through Amazon are the fixed versions.

Also someone in the post said there's a "star" on the fixed discs versus none on the mono ones.

If Ghost Squad is under $20, they'll have themselves a sale.

What the hell? The lighting deal thing won't load at all in Firefox. Lame. So anyway I looked at the current deal (Ghost Squad) in Internet explorer. You're probably right about the next deal too.

I use Firefox and the lightning deal page loaded just fine for me. I jumped on the Ghost Squad deal, it was just too good to pass up! Plus, I needed another game for my Perfect Shot. :-D

I got the "Ghost Squad" deal, which was excellent. I was going to buy it anyway, so for $16, it was like a gift. I was hoping it would be "MLB Power Pros", but I think I'm going to pass on "MLB '08" so other folks can hop on the good deal.
