It's Shigeru Miyamoto speaking, so really we could have pulled any quote from Jeremy Parish's 1UP interview and stuck it in the title, or just said "MIYAMOTO SPEAKS: YOU READ IT NOW," but this is the most directly newsy bit out of the interview, which was ostensibly about Wii Fit. He denied that Nintendo is abandoning its core franchises (and audience) in part by saying "we do have the existing teams at Nintendo working on the kinds of products we've always made over the years. The Zelda team is forming again to work on new games! But to me, it's about finding these new interactive experiences and bringing them to people."Miyamoto spent much of the interview talking about Nintendo's love of the "hardcore gamer." Interestingly, he sees the upcoming Japanese launch of Link's Crossbow Training as the opposite of the normal Wii strategy -- the first step toward getting Japanese gamers used to first-person shooters.

Man I could go for a new Zelda. Although I guess I never played windwaker, maybe I should finally pony up the money for a gamecube memory card, wavebird and that game.

If you want a cell shaded Zelda game, but Okami instead.
...even though it kinda sucks.

Do you mean Okami overall? Or do you just mean the Wii controls?
...the Wii controls are kinda' weird, but the game's awesome. :/
What's with the swing-attack-control that they used from Zelda? I kinda' hated that. :(

ive only played one Zelda game all the way through and that was the most recent Twilight Princess. i bought it with my Wii simply because it looked to be the best launch title. the game was very fun as i thought it would be so i would certainly be up for another Zelda game. maybe i should play the Gamecube ones too then.

Are you joking? Wind Waker is a pile of pants. Sail to one place be told that you need to set sail to another, set sail again, put controller down make a cup of coffe and a five course meal, pick up controler and find that you still have more sailing to do. And then as some kinf of horrific reward at the end Nintendo go you can play the game all over again but in your jim jams, whoop whoop.
Any way. YAY to shigsy interview. How we love him but who ever was interviewing him should have been slapping him into his office (or where ever he lives) so he can get pikmin 3 into my greasy hands.

I agree, Pikmin 3 is needed, it's a good fit for the Wii! Make it happen Nintendo!
Also on the type of Zelda, I hated WW, I hate pointless sailing....I played all the way but still only an 85% Zelda. Majoras Mask was my fave :D *dodges the flames from OoT fans*

For those people that complain about the sailing factor in Wind Waker... I'm just gonna come out and say it: You are dumb.
Go get caught up in one of the big hurricane/twister things and shoot the big toad guy at the top before you get completely pulled in... he will teach you a song to play with the Wind Waker that will allow you to teleport all over the map, saves a lot of time and cuts down on travel time.
Honestly though, I really enjoy the travel and hunting down all the hidden treasure chests... I think TLoZ:WW is probably my 3rd favorite Zelda game behind Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past. I'm very glad that the developers are willing to take risks and try original concepts (cell shading & spread out, albeit time consuming, travel) with the Zelda series. Wind Waker was the first Zelda game to actually make the world feel really frickin big, as opposed to this tiny little land, half the size of Greenland.

agreed. coolest thing about wind waker is you can set sail from one island, sail for awhile and land on another island with no loading at all. it gives you a true feeling of how large the world is. even though hunting down the treasure chests at the end does get a bit tedious.

I know. After OoT, the only nit-picking was people saying they felt like they were being led around by the nose. So they give them the ability to explore and visit more places, and what thanks do they get? "Waaaaah, too much freedom!" Suck it up, WW was fantastic.
And those who were first introduced to Zelda by TP: if you're willing to spend a few bucks, pick up WW and the GC "collector's edition" disc (make sure you get the one with 4 games, not the one with 2). You'll have Zelda 1 and 2, OoT, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker all for ~60 bucks, depending on where you buy it. That's a solid month worth of awesome games for the price of one new title on the 360. When you're done with that, you can get LttP on WiiWare, or get the GBA version if you have a DS -- I'd rather my classic titles were portable, but you can't always win that fight.
[Can you tell I like the series? The "Overworld Theme" was my first cell phone ringtone =-)]

... but I LIKE games where it takes forever to get to the other side! (Unless it's a dungeon... I hate being stuck in dungeons)
:(
It gives me time to relax and see how big the big open "air" is... You know, relaxing like how the character is... I like to SIM, so I guess that makes sense. :/

Now, unlike many I did love Windwaker. However, I have to disagree with the above poster who says that people are complaining that there's too much freedom in Windwaker to explore. Its not that there's too much freedom, its that most of the time, what you're exploring is an empty sea only to find one small island and a few buried chests. And then to force you to go on a fetch quest, in which you need to collect a ton of rupees for and return back to one small tower multiple times, that's what annoys most people about it.

Dude. Freaking. Wind Waker. Is tied for my favorite video game OF ALL TIME. With Ocarina of Time. I don't understand how anyone could NOT love it.
Anyway, I heard that the next Zelda game has been in development for a while... I also heard that it will have a futuristic setting. That would pretty much be amazing.
