Groovy! One of the most-requested Virtual Console games is now officially on the way, thanks to Interplay. And it's bringing friends! Earthworm Jim, Shiny's platform/shooting adventure about a worm in a space suit, will be released on the Virtual Console "later this year," joined by its sequel, as well as the Claymation SF2-alike Clayfighter (developed by Visual Concepts) and Boogerman (full title: Boogerman: A Pick and Flick Adventure).
According to Gamasutra, these will be the Genesis versions of the games, which means that Earthworm Jim will include the extra "Intestinal Distress" level that was exclusive to that version.
Hey, Interplay had the rights to Out of this World at some point. Maybe they still do!

Only problem I had with the version is raspy sound. Other than that, it's a cool game. Maybe the should include the Sega CD version, too.

I loved the first one, but the "Down the Tubes" level was ridiculously hard. When I was 9.

Too bad it's not the Sega CD version with CD-quality music and extra level Big Bruty. The Genesis music if I recall was worse than the SNES tunes...ah well. I'll take what I can get.

I played a 'friends' version of the game a few months ago, and I liked what I played of the EWJ games, so I'll pick them up.
Boogerman and Clayfighter, on the other hand, not so much.

I ****ing LOVED Clay Fighter. But I'd rather have that Blockbuster rental-exclusive Clayfighter 63 1/3 Sculptor's Cut for the N64.

Earthworm Jim = Childhood Memories?
Thrilled that this title will be available on VC, but I'm not sure that I'll be able to relive those memories since my arthritis started kicking in after getting to the ninth key.

I believe Blizzard owns those rights (along with their other games from that hardware generation).

And what about the rights to the music in that game? Rocking out to .midi versions of Paranoid and Born To Be Wild was awesome.
Or should I say, GROOVY!

I had this on Genesis and the sound is fine, do not be dumb fanboys, even if the site's name implies it... Actually all the Earthworm Jim games were made on Genesis, then ported to SNES, so the sound quality is probably worse on SNES. People are probably thinking of crappy movie/EA games when they think Genesis has bad sound.
The SEGA CD and PC versions are still the best, though. They did a great job with the music on those.

By "all", I mean the first two games, as the rest sucked. Check the copywrite dates if you do not believe me.

Earthworm Jim was much better on the SNES. As were most games that were on both. Better sound and graphic processors.

I guess I can not expect much from people here, then. It is a port of a Genesis game, the graphics are the same regardless. The SNES sound chip does not have the same amount of bass the Genesis one does, thusly making the music more low/muffled(just look at the music in games like Sonic and Streets of Rage 2, SNES can not do that as good). The game also lacks a level due to Nintendo being cowardly about things at the time.
Get your heads out of your arses. They picked these versions over the SNES ones for a reason.
