Say the 1st paragraph again... to Xbox360 owners who LOVE online play... and never stop playing them... on ALL their games...
I dare you to say that again to their face.

I already did, to some friend who has a 360 or a PS3, who thinks that Halo 3 and COD4 are the best online playing games, but they got bored of the same thing and keep on buying new games (they are rich, those bastards :( ). Same happens to some co-workers of my sis who lives in phoenix, Arizona. Actually, part of my first paragraph is something they told first hand

When you grow up, proportions change.

I have "sold" at least one Wii as TV sport emulator to now happy gaming family. And I know bunch of people who really do not care about much else on Wii but WiiSports. The bunch of people who would never ever buy Xbox* or PS*.

And let's get real - $250 isn't really that big money. To me it is less than a pay for one week of work.

"When you grow up"? Please...I'm 26 thank you, have already been to college, held many jobs, including the Army (where I've served a year in Iraq)....so when you grow up and stop trying to start shit on the net...let me know...

And let's get real...$250 is expensive to drop just to sit around and play Wii Sports....and I make that in about a day's worth of work...and I STILL know that...

Yeah, check out that price tag for one game (mind you, an awesome technologically advanced game)... that'll probably get boring once the company goes away.
Then compare that to Wii Sports... which would still be entertaining if people left. :P

Most stores that aren't video game stores (other than Target) have an awful selection of Wii games.

... I have no idea how people pick and choose what goes on the shelves, but... who the heck decides it???

Minigames are counted by bundle.

So WiiSports and WiiPlay = 2 games according to those counting.

Though I know you won't read it, they sold it to his parents as "14 games". When they called on the phone saying that they got him 14 games he got excited and worried at the ammount of cash they might've spent.

To much of his dismay, he was received by a Wii, Wii Play, and a Zapper-knockoff that doesn't include Link's Crossbow Training.

The problem is they do buy crap: look at Mario Party and Mario & Sonic Olympics sales.

Those games definitely are not crap. My guess is that you have never played them since you are so freely able to label them as crap.

I have played them, that's how I know they're crap.

Mario Party is only crap if you get bored of minigames and board games.

And Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games is only crap if you have either

a) A group of friends who take themselves too seriously :|

b) A group of friends who are all guys... so now you all look homoerotic for each other :P

Mario Party is crap. It's sad how downhill the series has gone.

Mario & Sonic on the other hand, is rather fun.

Mediocre like Wii Sports.
If you didn't unlock everything and played all of them through with mastering some of them - you might as well say you didn't play it.
It may be a cash-in, but it was actually more competitive than Wii Sports ever was.

But then again, if you weren't much for Wii Sports, that's understandable.

I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about when you say there aren't enough quality titles.. I can count on both my hands the number of actual good titles that the X-Box 360 and PS3 have combined (I have both systems as well as the Wii). The Wii definitely offers up the best line. The 360 is only good for Halo and Call of Duty 4 and everyone knows that....and once anyone figures out exactly what the PS3 is good for other than watching Bluray discs...please let me know. I still haven't figured that one out...

Xbox360 - FPS games
...I swear, most of my games are just FPSs... it's kinda' funny to think about it.

PS3 - One reason: MGS4
...didya' hear? MGS4 WAS TOO BIG for PS3's powerful engine! That's insane! ...they had to shrink it!

Use the latest numbers including those important decimals:

Wii: 24.19 * 3.7 = 89.5 million
360: 18.32 * 4.7 = 86.1 million
PS3: 11.85 * 4.6 = 54.5 million


One thing to consider is that if the Wii had the PS3's attach rate, we'd be talking about $111.2 million in sales. $21.77 million more to divide among the publishers. I'm thinking that the big publishers like Ubisoft, EA, and Activision are perhaps the ones who are most interested in that tie-in ratio.

Playing repetitive shooting games = bad

Not exactly my point, but point taken.

The people I know that own systems other than the Wii tend to play a very limited range of games: Walk/run around, shoot at things; Drive around, shoot at things; Play guitar.

That said I have done all those things on my Wii, but unlike the other systems I have about 1/10 the choices to do that. If you look at the game racks for PS3/360 and there is a lot of running, driving and shooting a person can do.

This is very interesting.

Finally something to get excited about!!! I have no interest in playing rehashed Mario/Wario/Luigi/etc games. I want new. I had a feeling the hardware wasn't being fully exploited. Hopefully this will raise the bar for other developers.

Here's the thing though, even the good games have something that prevents them from being "great."

The original Metroid Prime was brilliant. It masterfully captured the feeling of being alone and isolated in a hostile, alien environment. You really got the feeling that your surroundings were as much your enemy as the baddies you shot up. It was never meant to compete or even be compared to Halo, it was there as an alternative, emphasizing single player (to the extent of the aforementioned isolation) over multiplayer.

Prime 3 is the result of the developers playing too much like Halo. Gone is the feeling of being a lone badass in a strange world. Instead, we are treated to a fucking space opera. If I wanted a half-baked story involving space marines (and it's always marines for whatever reason, there's never a space army, or more logically, an Air Force) I'd play every other generic, futuristic FPS. The controls were brilliant, so much so that the game became laughably easy, although the controls being "too good" is a silly thing to complain about. It's just having to sit through the tired marine cutscenes that almost ruined an otherwise brilliant game.


Medal of Honor Heroes 2 took Prime's controls and polished them to a mirror shine. Fine, it's another WWII FPS in an overly saturated market, but the controls work, so I'll forgive it. What I won't forgive is the atrocious AI (enemies will run right past you without giving you a second glance) and crappy graphics.

House of the Dead is a straight port of a very old arcade game. It almost seems unfair to bash it, it's like hitting the elderly with a golf club while they're asleep.

No More Heroes is a game where I don't know if I'm allowed to point out its flaws, because I'm not entirely sure they are actually flaws, or if the game was glitchy on purpose to keep in line with the "punk rock videogame" attitude. Evidently several reviewers are in the same boat as I am. It's part arthouse film, part exploitation, and part social satire.


Mario Galaxy and Zack & Wiki are both great. And if you don't own Zack & Wiki, then I hope Thor sodomizes you with his hammer. And not with the handle part.

You do realize that a lot of people buy games like Happy Feet, The Golden Compass etc and actually enjoy them right? I know most people who have grown up on gaming (the playstation generation or nes/snes/megadrive people) dislike these games, but for a lot of people and especially children relatively short games with easy controls and instantly recognizable settings/story/characters these games are fun to play. Maybe they're of lesser 'quality', but it's no wonder movie or cartoon licenses often sell so well.

Example: 70 people buying 4 games each + 30 people buying 3 games each / 100 (total number of people) = 3.7 games sold per person on average.

Or you buy Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. That gives you about .7 of a game! ;)

Well, considering you listed pretty much the only games worth owning...
