I don't think Cowboy Jed should be overused. I mean it's just one of those things where like after the commercial for the 3rd game he's done you just go "Ok this crap ain't funny anymore".
However, along those same Cowboy Jed lines, people should check out this video of Chris Bosh campaigning for All-Star game votes if you haven't already lol check out the spot with Bubba http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hv7IZP7u9FE

"We would like to play" guys all the way. At least they have an air of credibility about them. That cowboy Jed commercial makes me cringe.

Cowboy Jed sucks. He's funny-ish maybe the first time but then quickly passes into the same realm of dick-tip irritation.
Frankly, it's one of those commercials that just makes me feel embarrassed to watch with other people around.

You only think Cowboy Jed sucks because you haven't "Looked at the footage" yet..

I haven't watch a commercial in almost 5 years. I had no clue who Coboy Jed even was until I saw the post earlier. Who cares they can market the games however they want. It will still print money!

I still have no idea what this "Cowboy Jed" is. I rarely watch commercials.

Keep the Wii-boys for standard TV ads but I think Cowboy Jed has the potential to become an underground (internet-only) sensation. Nintendo should record a ton of new Cowboy Jed clips and have a monthly contest, having fans cut together ads for their new games using said clips.

Which do I like better???
...er... "Wii would like to play".
Why? Because Cowboy Jed is only a once-in-a-lifetime-thing. He's there to showoff karts... like, you know, a car salesman.
If he were used for anything else (SSBB, SMG, LoZ:TP, etc), I'd be a bit... confused.
It's not like he's gonna' be permanent. He's just there for MK:Wii. And in my opinion: he's not that bad, and most of you people just need to loosen up, instead of making a federal case outta' him. Seriously, you all sound like cranky little guys whenever you complain about him. As if you were gonna' bite our finger if we touched you.
Now if you're asking me: "Would I like future commercials to no longer be 'Wii would like to play'?"
My answer would be: I'd like different commercials, but having the general WWLTP commercials play every once in a while would be nice too.
Sooo... yeah. Wii Would Like To Play is the overall general-theme for every Wii-commercial... so I don't really see the argument here.

i know i sound cranky but growing up in a farm town was horrible......the people are so dumb but they think they are above school and college and they think there kids will be farmers.......i went to private school and my mom is a big person for EMI so i was like there mortal enemy.......I got alot of bad stares driving home from school in a suit.....i am more scarred of hicks then i am of riding the metro at night in East st. louis (which i do sometimes to get home from concerts ect.)
but cowboy jed isnt all bad, just kind of like you said, and were the first to point out, and i never really thought about it untill you said it.....hes a once in a lifetime kinda charecter......

You never know. They could bring him back as different personalities like Gun Shop Jed for any new FPS's. Or Sport Shop Jed for a new Wii Sports game..The opportunities are endless!

Or they could just let him die (a nice 15-minutes of fame death!!)

Where the hell did you grow up, TheCoats? What you're describing is more like "Deliverance" and LESS like any REAL rural southern communities I've been in. :P

Yeah, the 'we would like to play' thing is just so charming. I like it for it's much calmer push to buy a product. The Cowboy Jed commercial was still really neat, but like everyone's saying; I think it should be a one-time thing.
Haha, maybe that Jed commercial hits a little too close to home for some of us though. A lot of people seemed creeped out by it!

As SoshiKitai pointed out, Cowboy Jed is a Mario Kart only thing - he's not a new theme for all future advertising. Or at least that would be the LOGICAL plan.
I do like the idea of fresh material for different games rather than sticking with WWLTP for everything. And Nintendo see that too - look at the WiiFit advertising.
As for commercials... *shrug* can't recall seeing one... we have a Tivo. Next please... *blip*

yeah, i think the car salesman guy really only works for mario kart. plus, i adore the "wii would like to play" commercials: the guys, the car in the commercial, everything. those are great commercials. i am constantly listening to the song from those commercials in my car too (the yoshida bros. song "kodo (inside the sun remix)".
mmm.... i

I vote for any of the commercials that have the Yoshida Brothers' music in 'em, which I believe would be the "We would like to play" ads. ;) (They do a great live performance--highly recommended if you ever get a chance to see them. They do play the US occasionally.)

look, i don't think mario kart was the best choice to start cow boy jed, seeing as wii would like to play would be much better, showing a bunch of people playing mario kart, AND THE WII WHEEL, which is sort of important. i think the comerical should be done according to what type of title, i seriously hate cowboy jed all together, he just sounds stupid (not because he's southern, i live in the south) but he just sounds retarded, and i can't stand that look at the footage thing, its so annoying. just get me my two japaneese people asking me to play, ok?
americans like japaneese products more than american, much cheaper, much better.

I love the Wii would Like to Play guys but after the Kart ad I had no choice but to look at the footage. I must mention that Cowboy Jed kind of reminds me of some distant relatives on my dads side but after all I am in the Southeast and those kind of hicks do exist. Just spend enough time in a Wal-mart in the Southeast and you will see one of the elusive loudmouth rednecks.

I love Cowboy Jed. He rocks!
But he is pretty much limited to Mario Kart. He wouldn't work so well for other games (like Wii Fit). But I believe that is a good thing because I wouldn't want to see his character overused. As it is right now, his commercials are destined to become classic Nintendo commercial greats (up there with the likes of the SSB N64 commercial).
The "Wii Would Like to Play" guys are good because they aren't as wild and they provide a consistent image for Wii.
