Well now, it looks like the June 2008 issue of Game Informer has a little surprise up its sleeve. You got it, this is none other than the drum kit that will be utilized in Guitar Hero IV. Looks kind of weird, if you ask us. But, hey, maybe the thing looks goofy, yet has a great feel to it? We'll have to wait and see.As you can tell, it's different from the Rock Band drum kit in several ways. For one, it would appear the kit only has 3 face drums, with two weird high hat-looking things above the main drums, along with the requisite bass pedal. Will this be an easier drum kit to manage than the one bundled with Rock Band?
Update: Whoops, fixed some oversight on our part. Sorry for the mistake.

I despise Rock Band.....I just dont like the HORRIBLE pieces of plastic that comes with it.......and how easily they break and above that......how much it costs for things i DO NOT WANT!!!!......Just someone and anyone give me a fake guitar and some songs.....that is all i want....I dont want to invite my friends over to play and break my RB drums.....and have the foreign exchange student from africa screaming profanities in the mike......because we told him it was funny one time not all the time!!....Hell I am sometimes scared when they are using the Wii-mote......I just want a game that i can chill out and play by myself........I play rock band with friend but just havent found it comparible to guitar hero.........
.....and besides guitar hero beatles confirmed for brawl!

However I would be alot more happier buying guitar hero w/ all of its new instruments over rock band........I just would like to know that i can play guitar hero by myself sometimes and not feel the need for 3 people to come over.....Just me, my dog "toaster", some mac 'n cheese, and a fake plastic guitar

TheCoats... you do know that you don't HAVE to buy the Rock Band bundle, right? You can just buy the game and a guitar.
And I don't get how you rant about Rock Band and how you'll never buy it because you ONLY want guitar, then you say "I would be alot more happier buying guitar hero w/ all of its new instruments." wtf?

@LARS
I am not trying to like start anything because i know how much all of you like Rock band and this concept and the numbers don't lie about what a good game rock band is, but:
1:just buying the bundle and the guitar for rock band would make me feel like I am missing out on 4/5 of the game
2: I wasn't saying i like the idea of guitar hero with all of its instruments but it looks like now i am forced to choose so i have to stick with Guitar Hero in hopes that the instruments will be better and i won't feel the need to invite EVERYONE over when i just want to play

No pedal? I'll take a bassdrum over a cymbal any day. That's like getting rid of the accelerator but adding a horn and rearview mirror.

Umm, there's a bass pedal in the picture you link to?

Looks more like a real drum set, if you ask me.

Agreed, these are a good step above RB drums (but still no hi-hat pedal!!!).
I hate saying that too, because when a big heartless corporation just copies and one-ups a smaller company that's doing some actual innovation, and proceeds to make billions (you know they will), it's just a sad thing.

Also worth noting over Rock Band:
1. Quieter pads
2. Wireless
3. Pressure sensitive pads (I wonder how this is used?)
If I only care about the Wii system, I'd pick this up over RB.

Pressure sensitive pads will probably used to play loud/quiet parts. Also, they have a song creation mode and it would be useful for you to be able to play the drums loudly or quietly depending on what song you are creating.

Hey david, you put a space between the "i" and "t" so the "t" is in front of "looks". Just thought to point that out.

WOW. Wireless, pressure sensitive, quieter, and cymbal pads? I'm sold. If the Wii version isn't gimped, I'll probably be picking this up over RB. Yeah, the drums and guitars won't be compatible, but this is a way better drum kit than RB.

This drum kit looks more like an actual electric drum kit. Really hoping it comes out on Wii and doesn't have any missing features like Rock Band. I'm pretty much sold on the fact that the drums will be quieter.

So when will we get news that they are going to add some sort of foot pedal for the guitar. Not sure what it would do (have no idea what a real guitar would use on for,) but there is that little plugin at the bottom of my guitbox.

I prefer to play music games made by people who know anything about music. Guitar Hero without Harmonix is the opposite of that.

Yeah, right... And Whoremonix + Wii = castrated Rock Band
Go and support the dumb f'rs at whoremonix who give us Wii owners less than HALF of the game it is for other systems.
Go and enjoy playing half a video game.

Oh come on. They had to trim some fat off the game to make it work on the Wii, just like with the PS2, because of the lack of hard drive. Other than that it's pretty much the same. No weekly DLC, but again... NO HARD DRIVE. And anyways they're releasing a disc with a variety of DLC at launch! That's unprecedented, AND for cheaper than it would cost to buy those songs on 360/PS3!
I have no sympathy for your hollow complaints. If anything I'm jealous that I didn't buy the Wii version instead. Plus you got wireless guitars with tilt sensors that actually work!

I play the full game on the 360. It sucks that the Wii version will be gimped, but a gimped RockBand is still better than a full Guitar Hero(post Harmonix).

Looks cool. Though without DLC, it's all in vain. I probably won't pick this up and spend the gobs of money on RB instead simply because of the downloadable content. Help us out here Nintendo.

With the Wii version, can we make it so the instruments don't have built in wireless. have a simple plug that hooks to a wii remote. Make the mic a shell the remote slide into. Engage star power by raising the mic straight up (very rock star!)

i would kill for someone to actually make a drum pad setup. all you need it a pad for hit hats, a pad for cymbals, and 4 pads for the drum (dedicated snare and 3 toms.) hell i'd settle for 2 toms...
but this rock band/ghIV crap has got to go. it cheapens the experience of actually drumming. i dont want my snare its to be on the yellow pad or the blue pad or the red pad depending on where i am in the song... its pathetic.

Do you guys just like to complain or something? Seriously? I like Rock Band because it was a cool new idea. Its fun to play, and I like the fact that Harmonix (not Whormonix as its been refered to) actually knows music.
On the other hand, I do like the look of the GH IV drum set I must say, and it'll probably have a better drum pedal that doesn't break as much, but I'll probably stick with Rock Band, since I have it, and Harmonix seems to do better with the DLC(on 360 and PS3) IMHO.
