Konami reveals Rock Revolution
Rather than localizing Guitar Freaks, Konami and developer Zoe Mode have created a new game that combines the graphical look of Rock Band with the vertical scrolling interface of the Bemani series. The new game features drum and guitar gameplay, but the Wii version is not slated to use any peripherals. The screen above is clearly not from the Wii version, but we wouldn't expect it to look too different (just lower-res). Rock Revolution is expected to release in October.

Well, that rules out the Wii version for me. Here's hoping for a PS2 version (Yes, that was a "two")

Konami pretty much single-handedly created the music game genre, but shine on you crazy diamond.
The game's release date is actually in Rocktober.

Konami created it then killed it.
The only way to save my beloved genre is for a super crossover game.
IN THE PUMP BAND PRO
Kyle Ward, Andamiro, and Harmonix team up for a Guitar/Bass/Drum/Vocal/Dance (of both 4 and 5 panel varieties) game with all the best songs from KaW, BanYa, and Freezepop....among others.
Build it on a specially modified version of Stepmania and release it ONLY in arcades.....no console version.....EVER

It's not derivative really, if Konami was the one to originally make these games in the first place (they did guitar, karaoke, drum, and dj based games FIRST).
Not to mention, Guitar Hero really takes nothing from amplitude or frequency, so I don't get that correlation (although, Amplitude and Frequence ARE Harmonix's most unique/original rhythm games, and their best imo). I love Guitar Hero, but all Harmonix did with that, was take Guitar Freaks, add a button and whammy bar, and add in music that would have more mainstream appeal to an American and European audience. The underlying mechanics of the game tho, already done by Konami.
