Wow, this was kind of unexpected. I like seeing variability in tournaments. If all the tournaments were like the first one, I would definitely stop playing them. Way to push emphasis on the wheel Nintendo!

I like that they switch up the tournaments. This will be fun because I suck mad donkeyballs with the wheel. At least it's not a course where I'll fall off at every turn (I'm talking to you, Rainbow Road).

first of all
"Just another disappointing tourney to you?"
is ridiculous! I dont think we need the negativity. They dont HAVE to have tourneys at all.
second of all.
I dont underastand how people
a) think it is hard to use the wheel
or
b) prefer to use another control scheme cause its "easier".
um, it cant be any easier to use the wheel, and it is meant to be fun. If I want to play a serious racing game I will play FORZA 2 or Gran Turismo, this is MARIO KART for crying out loud, you shoot shells and squids at people.

I agree with you on the last part but I have to defend the DH on this one he wasn't saying he was or that we should be disappointed he was just asking if people were disappointed about this.
the last tournament got a weird response mainly ranging from MEH to AW.
This one doesn't disapoint me. Nintendo seems to be adding fun little twists on there tournaments that i personally look forward to. I use the Wii wheel almost all the time anyway.
I think nintendo i just trying to make these tournaments appealing to diffrent types of players. Instead of the ame thing every time.

RE: The Wii Wheel –
Are you kidding me? Have you tried the wheel on harder tracks at 150cc where the slightest overturn sends you flying? Squids and shells or no, no game is fun if you fly off the course all the time.
Your theory is full of big filth.

Haven't you guys played any of the other racing games for wii yet? In my opinion, Mario Kart works basically the same as Excite Truck, which I've had for quite awhile, so I'm pretty killer with the wheel!
I don't know if you can still get the replay of the winner from the last tournament, but after you submit your scores for a tournament, on the rankings page you can browse your time compared to ghosts and champions, and even watch a replay of the champ's run!
Anyway, good luck to you all... Hopefull I'll have my golden wii wheel soon!

How do you get a golden Wii Wheel

Basically use the Wii Wheel every time you play MKWii, online & offline.
If you get a Gold Wheel and use another controller though, it'll make you White Wheel again.

It won't let me play the second one. It just puts back to the first tournament and says that today is the 8th

No it's not... and that's why Nintendo included other control schemes! Let's face it.. if you want to be a bad racer and have fun use the wheel.. if you want to be competitive, online and in single player cups forget the wheel! I have almost 3 stars in all cups and i reached today 9932 points in online vs races with classic controller..
If i used the wheel i would never get that far since, let's face it... wheel it's not for hardcore Mario Kart gamers, it's for casual gamers that just want to have some fun.. that's nothing wrong with that... it's just the truth.

you might be right but don't games are suppose to be fun and make you have a darn good time instead of trying to be the numero uno?
p.s.p: . i consider my self a hardcore nintendo gamer that likes to have fun while playing

I have a two star ranking on all cups in 50cc and a one star rating on all but 2 cups on 100cc, and that's using the wii wheel. If you're a good driver, it doesn't matter what control scheme you use, in my opinion, but if you don't have some of the more powerful karts/bikes yet, racing online can be a pain sometimes.
To Makalu: To get a golden wii wheel icon while racing, simply use the wii wheel more than (if not exclusively) the other control schemes.
To Guts: Maybe your calendar on the wii is off?

I love how people tout opinion as fact. I've been playing Mario Kart for years, I've got three stars on 50 and 100 so far, going to start on 150 tonight. Using the wheel. I play online, and consistently come anywhere from First to Fifth. Just because YOU don't like it and YOU can't play the game with it does not make it "truth" that the wheel is only for "casual" gamers.

__________
When you dont have to face "real" opponents every tourney will be disappointing.
Even the online mode is disappointing. You cant change one word or letters with your opponents.

Lets just remember all the poor folks who dismissed the wii as being not for hardcore gamers. They took one look, and dissmissed it for being childish and not up to standerds. What is the top selling 3rd gen console of all time?... Hint: It starts with a W.
If you take the time to USE the wheel, your will learn about how it works. Give it time, and it will work for you. This is like the wii remote was for the wii when it first came out. It takes a little getting used to, but eventualy we get the hang of it. Dont do one race, and then dismiss it and use the GCN controler for the rest of your time. It takes TIME to learn stuff.
Squid: Are you kidding me? Have you tried the wheel on harder tracks at 150cc where the slightest overturn sends you flying? Squids and shells or no, no game is fun if you fly off the course all the time.
You may be right, but read ANY review of the game, and it says that they overcompensated at first, but after a while, they got used to it.
Im not saying that the wii wheel will replace the GCN controler, im just saying that it is a great new way to enjoy mario kart. Have some fun with it! I know i have.
Use it, learn it, love it, Wii. That should be their motto.

PS. Reply to this if you wana swap wii codes :)

You get a gold wheel if you use the wheel 50% of your playing time, or more. You don't go back to a white wheel if you simply TRY OUT the controller, only if you use it 50% or more than the wheel.
