Following up the screens and tech demo we all got to check out (and get excited over), High Voltage has now released a rather lengthy trailer for their proposed FPS The Conduit. What do we have to say? Well, much like you will be after seeing the video above, we're in love. We need this.
Everything from the amount of on-screen action right down to the badass weapon used in the beginning has us pumped. What say you all?
[Thanks to everyone who sent this in!]

I can't wait to hear more about it. I'm hoping for a real strong online multiplayer mode. Then I'd be completely sold.

Looks good but I won't keep my hopes up. They were crushed when I thought Red Steel was going to be awesome (although it has some AWESOME 4 player multiplayer)

I think that it is safe to get your hopes up about this one: a) there aren't any swords, b) they say "death match is confirmed" at the end of the trailer (which is a good, not great indicator).
Also, Hooray for a non-regenerating health bar! (I think)

The "hint" at the end says absolutely nothing about online play. Deathmatch, yes, but online, no.

This reminds me a lot of Perfect Dark, just the colors of the world, the game looks amazing though, no more bitching about Wii's graphics from little FPS brats.

Oh yeah, that too, that gun with the ball that they reloaded looked so similar to that weapon that you could see through walls and shoot people who were running around.. now I totally want to get out my 64 again, if I only I still had the expansion pack

I don't think the graphics are all that great yet. This game was over hyped from the start. But I'm hoping they will polish it up before release. As for the story it's a bit meh, but if the gameplay and graphics hold up I'll consider it.

How was this game overhyped? It hasn't been hyped at all yet. This is the first actual info. Before all there was is an announcement and a tech demo of the engine.

Ever since IGN's first article about it ( http://wii.ign.com/articles/867/867498p1.html ).
Quote from developer "Our goal is to be the most technically innovative Wii developer on the planet." If that's not pure, unadulterated hype I don't know what is.

And who says the Wii can't pull off amazing graphics?
But even thats not what has me so damned pumped about this game. Sure, multiplayer would be such a bonus, but it looks like a completely unique first person shooter from the lot. Never been a big fan of them, but this might be what changes that.
So what say I? I say I'm pumped.

I'm very interested, but it's hard to say that it's unique. It reminded me at times of Half-Life, but we have no idea about the story, the characters, abilities, etc., so it's hard to say that it's unique based primarily on graphics (which is really all this clip shows). But those do look superior (so far) to anything we've seen on the web thus far, if you're not including style but focusing primarily on detail and textures.
Is there jumping and climbing? Is there environmental damage? How are the physics?
Are there RPG elements? How strong is the story? What are the puzzles like? How is the AI?
Too many unanswered questions to get very excited for my part.

Like i said before, it seems kinda generic, kinda really generic, but an impressive technical effort is worthy of recognition, and even Wii fanboys need to have our inner graphics whore fed once in a while
Good going, high voltage

The Wii def. needed a game which could set the standard for Minimum graphics on the Wii. Companies can do better technical wise, and this game illustrates that. Yes, I get PD flashbacks also.

Nintendo won't publish this game. They're too concerned with their family-friendly image. Not that there's anything wrong with that, cause based on the video, some third party is sure to pick it up, and it can end the lame argument that third party titles on the Wii are destined to fail. Maybe this will be the title to shut up the shovelware devs? *Crosses fingers*

Max Headroom said...
Well, I think the last line of that video sums it up.
I want this game to be so good it hurts. I also don't want Nintendo to publish it. Because then we go right back to the argument that third party games don't sell - only Nintendo's name sells games. I want this game to prove that mature, third party, hardcore-oriented games can sell on Wii. I want this game to prove a lot actually. I don't know if it will, but this video gives me some hope.

About bloody time. There better be some good marketing behind this, strong sales are a must. I pray there is a decent story, the acting convinced me that there is possibly one. Also I pray A.I works well, I don't want to be shooting pylons... Either way, I'm stoked, this can't come soon enough. Last FPS for the Wii that did justice was Metroid, the rls have been dismal imo.

I'm glad to see some more serious/"meatier" games on the wii. Metroid Prime and Resident Evil 4 only have so many levels in them. :)
I'm glad to see the artists want to show off their gun models, and the animators are so proud of their reload animations, but honestly, I'd much rather they stop blocking my view with them all the time. Gun's usually don't protrude from one's neck, unless you are sighting them - and in that case you are looking more directly down the barrel. That, and can we please do away with the disembodied bouncy gun animation in the FPS genre? It's 2008. We've had real time inverse kinematics for years now.
(Sorry - these are gripes I've had with FPS games for a while now. I think the "innovations" in mirrors edge are long overdue in the genre. I am indeed grateful for the controls that the wii has brought to console FPS-style games.)

But there's a large amount of FPS players who LOVE that style of view... asking video games to get rid of them is like asking RPGs to no longer be turn-based.

Looks Great and Sounds great. There must be Great online to go with this for it to work or it is Metroid 3 again. The controls need to be spot on too. Hope a good Publisher will help them but not so much as to change their vision.
Graphics look great. Problem is too many people own or play on the other systems so aren't impressed when they see upgrades to the look of Wii games.

But isn't that the reason that a lot of people go on this site?
WiiFanboy bloggers are usually devoted Wii owners that are looking for updates on quality games. Well, at least thats why I go on it, and why a lot of Wii owners I know go on it. And thats what this post is. I'm extremely excited about this game, and there are a lot of other people who are as well.
People will be impressed by not only this game, but Deadly Creatures, Mad World, and most importantly Disaster: Day of Crisis. The Wii's third-party lineup is getting a massive overhaul. I seriously think that soon, the days of shovelware will be over.

I agree I am excited for Many games in the lineup too. I was referring to Multi-console owners who Compare games on the systems VS. A Wii only owner who will recognize and appreciate Graphically better games on Wii games.
