Greenpeace has had it in for Nintendo for quite some time now. Despite the Wii being the biggest thing since sliced bread, they've taken up the position of the minority in opposing the system. No, not because of its features or games, but because of Nintendo's supposed lack of caring regarding our environment.Following the latest blow struck by Greenpeace, Nintendo has responded with, well, basically what they did last time. "Nintendo has not been badly rated by Greenpeace," said a Nintendo spokesperson. "Greenpeace chose to conduct a survey and produce a report, which graded companies upon the voluntary submission of information."
Nintendo went on further to say that they "fully comply with all the necessary EU Directives on the Restriction of Hazardous Substances aimed at environmental protection and consumer health and safety. Furthermore, in order to ensure our products are safe for use by young children we also take into consideration the standards applicable to toys."

Wait, this isn't even about the environment, it was a quick honorable mention on the "back page." This is just one big anti-corporate based attack, the only thing Greenpeace does anymore. Their intensions are no longer about what's best for the environment. It's just one big political agenda now.
This is old news in the way that this is all Greenpeace does anymore. They just sit around and b***h about corporations, it's just what they do. The good news is that the majority of the public doesn't buy into their s**t anymore.

Idiots, they're not an organisation with any standards set in place for all companies to abide by like the ESRB, but just some guys who want to process data.
You shouldn't listen to Greenpeace as if what they say HAS to go.

Don't these conversations always degenerate into a "fuck Greenpeace" chorus.
I'd love to join in with the sing song, you know, but even if Greenpeace's conduct, at times, seem a little wayward they've got their heart in the right place, and in a way, that's the most important thing.
Organisations like Greenpeace are important to keep giant multinational corporations in check. Nintendo aren't infallible. I don't believe any corporation with the kind of clout Nintendo holds should be given an easy ride. In fact I like it. It keeps them on their toes.
And if Nintendo want to earn some environmental kudos then how about selling physical Wii Point cards without the DVD case, eh. It's a bit of a waste to produce all that plastic for a single sheet of card.

No. You're wrong. If your message is 20% crap, then it might as well be 100% crap. There is NO REASON for an organization to pull this stupid type of crap, EXCEPT for media attention, which increases awareness, which brings in money. Which they spend on more crap, for more media attention, for more money. It's also that 20% of crap which shows their true colors. Helping the environment is good, using fear tactics based on misguided studies and scare statements is evil.

Apparently people care more about their own entertainment beliefs then they do about the environment and its health.
Its hard to try to modify the way that nintendo is following or not following standards when people blantantly ignore their own usage at decreasing their carbon footprints in their own homes or throw their batteries away instead of disposing them in the proper places.
