We can't help but be skeptical about the DLC in Guitar Hero World Tour. As Wii owners, we're used to being burned when it comes to this kind of thing, and we hate getting our hopes up. "Fool me once ..." and so on, right?
Vicarious Visions is trying to assuage our fears, though, confirming to MTV Multiplayer that Wii version will have downloadable content. According to Karthik Bala, CEO of the company, the DLC will even be actual songs (as opposed to the user-created content that's also a feature in Guitar Hero World Tour).
Bala didn't elaborate on that last feature (called GH Tunes), so we're not sure if it will make an appearance on the Wii; the CEO says that more details on GH Tunes are still to come. We do feel better about the downloadable content though -- at least a little bit (old habits die hard).

How much do you want to bet that there will be a Guitar Hero Channel ala Mario Kart? That is the only way they will be able to add stuff to existing games.

I sort of doubt it. They don't need a separate channel just for DLC and stuff. It will just be feature in game, just like the other games that feature DLC.

even though having a separate channel for DLC would be great, it doesn't necessary have to be that way.
just look at how my life as a king handles DLC
eithet way, I hope nintendo announces a HD at E3, or else we're all gonna be screwed when GH comes out

Your an idiot. Of course WT will beat the snot out of Rock Band.
Rock Band Wii is an abortion of a game.
Go play Rock Band on a 360/ps3 then say the Wii one it isn't going to be worthless with all of its confirmed missing features (one of the biggest being DLC).
You can't.
Being able to buy another song that you WANT for only $1-$2 is the best thing games like this can do. Not to mention that you can play it in EVERY aspect of the game.
Being forced to buy 30 songs on an separate expansion Disc is worthless...
A bunch of songs on there you don't even want, and probably only a few that you do.
Having this feature announced NOW, will only persuade intelligent consumers to NOT buy the abortion of a game called Wii Rock Band, and wait for a company to make the game what it SHOULD BE! Like GH:World Tour is going to be doing.
It doesn't hurt any that the drum set for World Tour looks way better than Rock Bands.....
Now, if they could just be damn sure not to mess up the surround sound this time :)

i'm with you thedave 100% of the way.
i think although everyone may lovee rock band and i do have it on 360 and do agree it is good, the way they have just crippled the wii version is just not right and ontop of this making people wait half a year and charging them near or the same price as what it is for the xbox and ps3 versions is just ridiculous.
and thats only for the usa too!
they still haven't even got a release date for rock band on wii throughout the rest of the world, where, on the platforms it is released on (xbox 360 in the uk) it costs twice the amount as it does in the usa!
this is why smart people won't buy this but wait till the fall of this year so only 4-5 more months for a game that most definatly will be much bigger and better than rock band is at the moment on any console.
thank you and good night. (its 00:34 here in the uk-_-)

TheDave: cause you know, there was nothing broken about GH3 other than the surround sound.
GH3 was hard for the sake of being hard. It's all about getting scores, instead of just having fun. Rock Band on the other hand, focuses on having fun with friends, instead of arguing over who has more 1337 skillz.
That's not to say I'll be buying Rock Band, since DLC and world tour mode *are* important parts of the experience, but don't try telling me that the Guitar Hero franchise isn't broken .

sn1per, I don't feel that GH3 was that hard at all.
Once you learn how to use the broken hammerons, its really easy.
That being said, it is still the only GH game I don't have all 5 stars on. Not because of solos though. Mostly little combo breaking crap. Much like how Misirlou was my last GH2 5*, The Way It Ends and TTFAF are just too hard, because I suck at speed strumming.
However, Cult of Personality would be harder than Jordan if it was in the GH2 engine.
Now as for the songs, Some had some stupid overcharts, but they weren't all bad at all. 3's and 7's. Cities on Flame, Impulse, Helicopter, Cliffs of Dover, and Mauvais Garcon (don't shoot me) are some of my favorites.
They weren't all Number of the Beast bad, as alot of people seem to make it out to be. And Harmonix hasn't had perfect charts either. What I like about you was terrible, and the undercharting in GH1 left me quite angry. Why add a massive solo ending to Ace of Spades if you aren't going to chart it?
Anyway. I had fun with GH3, and I don't even score-crunch it as much as the older GHs. Granted it is not the best in the GH series by a longshot, I am willing to give Neversoft/Vicarious Visions another chance, and they seem to be doing good as of now.
To everyone out there: Don't judge this game before you play it. Also, don't judge Rock Band Wii before you play it. Granted, RBWii's feature list is dissapointing, I am going to play it atleast once, if I can get my hands on it.
As a person that has enjoyed both Guitar Hero and Rock Band games, I feel there is really no need to divide up on this issue. I am sick of seeing so many arguments over the games. They are just games! Can't we play them both?

Two questions:
1) Can I use my GH3 guitar with it?
2) Are we going to be filling up with various game related channels for the rest of the console's life? Mario Kart Channel, Wii Fit Channel, Guitar Hero Channel, Rayman Raving Rabbids Channel, Ninjabreadman Channel, etc? Because that's gonna get mighty crowded.

There's no reason why this Guitar Hero won't have DLC. Afterall, DLC is fully support on Wii now and there are several games (albeit only WiiWare games so far) that feature DLC.
And no, a separate channel isn't needed.

Ouch, Jumbo, total burn.
Anyway, we're still approaching this with skepticism (check out the last sentence), but even so, the fact that it's Vicarious Visions saying it this time (the developers) and not Red Octane (the publishers) inspires a little more confidence in the statement.

Ok, why does this site hate Rock Band Wii and Harmonix?
Harmonix did provide the Track Packs for Rock Band [Which I think this website missed out on posting, maybe due to the fact that you guys are against Harmonix?] 20 Songs for 30 dollars is a good deal at $1.50 per song, while Guitar Hero 3's DLC is 3 songs for $6.25, which costs more. And the guy who said the songs you do not want? Guess you never played those songs on Rock Band 360 before, look at this http://www.rockband.com/forums/showpost.php?p=594767&postcount=40
Secondly, no character customization is pissing you off? Harmonix did it for a reason so that Rock Band will play smooth. If you look at Guitar Hero 3 for the Wii [First of all the models looks ugly, the singer has a giant chin] the frame-rate drops. Look at the IGN videos of Rock Band Wii, the pre-rendered videos make the game smooth. Now if you reply 'I DONT CARE HOW UGLY THE GUYS LOOK, GH>RB!' then don't complain about not having customization. If you really care about how your rocker looks like, music games are not meant for you, go play Crysis with DirectX10 graphics.
Third, you guys need to open your eyes about the Wii. It is not as strong as the 360 or the PS3. That does not automatically mean the Wii is not as fun as the other consoles. Harmonix had to work with what they are given. I am a software engineer at CheckPoint [Developer of Zone Alarm security] and I see all these similar posts about how Zone Alarm Security is 'gimped' for vista. We cannot give all the features such as IM security to Vista since it is new, and not all the IM programs for Vista are perfected yet. Point is, that we can probably squeeze in all the features that XP version has in Vista's, but the program will probably be buggy and slow. I also saw this when I worked at AutoDesk helping design Maya for the Mac, we knew that not all Mac owners will be happy that the PC version is 'better'.Harmonix is doing all you guys a favor by not making a clone of the 360's version. If Rock Band Wii had the features right now that the PS3/360 has, it would probably be a choppy game. Or, you can have Harmonix develop an exact clone for the Wii that would probably take them maybe more than 3 years, and you guys would even complain then.
Lastly, Harmonix already stated that like a true producer of software, that it is focusing on its core components. Rock Band is meant for people who have friends over and like to rock out. I seriously cannot believe how people here, including the Website Staff, disrespect a company who is obviously trying its hardest in making a game for the Wii community.

They were screwed in the eyes of disgruntled wii fans the moment they went hush about RB Wii and only revealed that after 6 months, they (Pi) have not changed the game what-so-ever for the Wii; it became what most people abhor - a port. Instead of trying to work on some things they took the route that was easiest, to compete with Activision, and release a game that is guaranteed to sell very well. In fact they kept the ps3/360 price with the inclusion of 5 more songs, 5 bonus songs in expense of a ps2 port that has no guitar compatibility. I don't know if you'd agreed with that maneuver however that's a low blow to the patient RB fans.
I'm not insulting RB in any way (other than the companies behind it) however it seems that Activision/Neversoft/VV will at least attempt to make a game that doesn't feel like a port (What they promise that is - when the game is out is when we'll see how much is false); it's a move that EA/Hmx/Pi did not take with RB and to most consumers it makes them look like another company trying to get rich quick.
While it's true that we don't care about graphics, we also would enjoy creating our own character; while this feat is something that couldn't be done with the engine RB was built on it is something that might've been done (We'll see if GH:WT Wii has it).
If EA/Harmonix/Pi wanted to focus on core gameplay then so be it, however their move of: A) Pricing the game as the as the superior versions due to 5 more songs. B) Removing online play and blaming Nintendo for DLC conflict. C) Not using the Wii-mote for their guitars yet claiming to be "open format". D) Taking 6 months to release a port. : Makes them look like the bad guys on this console.

You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME with your whining about lack of respect for whoremonix.
They DESERVE EVERY SINGLE SLAM they get.
They are making a crapola version of Rock Band for the Wii just to make more $$$. A quick and easy port of the PS2 version.
They are spending such a minor amount of development time, that it most likely won't even be compatible with GH guitars.
They are just slapping Wii owners in the face with their complete LACK of effort on this version.
Would it be choppy if they ported over the 360/ps3 version to the Wii, of course! Don't do that. Drop half the polygon count (or whatever it would take).
Wait no, can't do that, it would require some effort & cost too much $$$, and eat into profits to much.
Having the 360 version, and playing with friends is part of the fun. However, I have more fun with my friends while in between songs, going to customize each others characters, and laughing or asses off at the ridiculous costumes we can put our characters in. Not to mention the World Tour mode is a whole reason to play.
When the Whoremonix abortion called Wii Rock Band is released, and it is pretty much just "Quick Play" of songs as a Band. It will suck. There is not nearly as much fun in that.
