Kudos, Japan. While we may be disappointed, it gives us a bright shiny ray of hope that maybe, just maybe, we'll be rocking out with this classic sometime in the future. However, Nintendo are tacking on an extra 100 Wii Points to the price tag, making the download a still-reasonable nine bucks. There's an extra dollar that will be lost forever, never to be spent on that bus fare to Grandma's house.
Check in after the break for the full list of Japan's June Virtual Console releases.

I think the real story is that Sega have finally decided to release Rambo. Hopefully this incredible game will make it onto Pal shores.

I was half hoping it would have made an appearance during the recent Hanabi Festival event, but that's hope for you.

judging by the way they've actually been keeping the separate regions' releases pretty much the same, this bodes well.
hell, i thought this had already been released on the japanese VC and it was just NOA dragging their feet on its release.
however, i'm still waiting for earthbound.

Why don't you buy Sega Genesis collection? Is cheap and it includes some of the best Genesis titles.
I'm interested in Super Mario R(ocket)P(ropelled)G(renade).

I won't presume to answer in racecar's name, but could it possibly be because Sega Genesis Collection is a PlayStation 2 game?

OMG this can only be good news. I would gladly pay 900 Wii points for Super Mario RPG and now there is hope that it might actually be released in North America!

I agree with Roto13, I figured Square would eventually get Nintendo's permission to remake it on DS, and just distribute it that way
I'm surprised they're going with this

It's definitely worth having a Japanese console. Knowing basic kanji (seriously, b a s i c) is enough to get by on I believe. A good 40% of the menus have hiragana postscript so ... it all works out.
In the meantime, definitely looking forward to this soon! I've got the cartridge but there's an interesting charm to playing these games on the Wii~
