Recurring rumors have been flying about for some time now concerning the possible release of Street Fighter IV on the Wii. It was never a long shot to hope the port would be made, but producer Yoshinori Ono pretty much summed it up speaking at Capcom's Captivate 08: "The fact of the matter is we haven't planned for a Wii version yet."
Plans? Since when is this planning thing important for game development? Well, Ryu's totally badass Shoryuken is always unplanned, and comes out of nowhere when you least expect it. Maybe when the time is right, we'll get a face full of hard-hitting SFIV Wii news. For now ... no plans.
Ryu not planning to punch you in the face

They wouldn't have to dumb much down to get it running on Wii, though.

I'm not sure, it doesn't look to visually impressive. With some skillful tweaking i don't think they'd lose too much.

They can easily release a HD version of the game, or better yet, release Street Fighter HD on WiiWare

ryu seems exited. to be honest if the port used motion controls they would need some serious work on them. the controls in MKA were awful.

Wii is never going to get big third party releases apparently. The excuse after launch was that developers and publishers hadn't anticipated the success of the Wii and needed time to adjust production before anything more than ports and cheap casual games would be churned out. Two years later and nothing has changed.
Not that Nintendo should care. Their Wii Sports Machine is still flying off shelves. Soccer moms and grandpas don't care about GTA or Street Fighter, they just want to weigh themselves and pretend-bowl.

Street Fighter 4 on the Wii could be a lot of fun. like actually throwing the punches not just pressing the d-pad.
