Mario must be single-handedly keeping all his local sporting goods stores in business. He is no stranger to picking up any random game, throwing an item or two into the mix and giving it a go with all his friends. We're happy about that, because it usually turns out pretty good.
Now we can finally bring you some goodies for the latest foray into sporting superstardom. We've got the brand new trailer for Mario Super Sluggers, along with some captures in the gallery.
The trailer is very comprehensive, and shows off several cutscenes along with a demonstration of the all-purpose Wiimote controls. We don't have any idea what the guy is saying, but the movements displayed alongside the game speak for themselves. Of course, there'll be explosions and interference blasting every which way, so this isn't your typical Mom n' Pop baseball game.
We'll be on top of all Mario Super Sluggers information (and English content, geez) as it arrives. In fact, you could say we have all bases covered. Ha. That's funny.

For me its just a little too silly. I'd prefer a similulation baseball game for the wii, that actually works (unlike the 2k attempts). So I'm probably going to pass on this one.

Have you tried MLB Power Pros? Despite the SD style characters, the game is very deep.

Was that a stage creation mode around 2:47?

Power Pros has some unfortunate flaws though. The fielding is just horrible (partially b/c the computer AI on which player to give you is awful) and after 3-4 games all the hits seem like they are going to the same spots on the field. I love Power Pros style and depth. The RPG mode is fantastic and its a decent sim, but it continually lets me down when I play it.
I picked up MVP 2005 recently to fill my Baseball need on the Wii...but the games are SO SLOW that I find myself just going back to World Class Baseball (VC) and HH2002 on the PC for something that feels more like a real baseball game.
All that said, the first Mario Baseball was really a lot of fun! It's not simulation, but it's the most fun non-simulation baseball I've played and it has a lot of depth through recruiting players and achieving player specific challenges during the games like stealing bases, having a certain number of RBIs and other things that give each game a lot of life. Looking forward to gameflying the sequel to see if it holds up, if it does, it will be an easy get :).

Looks very interesting. I never played the GCN version (heck, I think the last baseball game I've played was Super Bases Loaded on the SNES), but I'll keep this one on my radar.

Looks like a deeper effort this time around, more fitting of the excellence found in other Mario Sports series

Day one purchase for me. I really got a kick out of the first one, and this seems to have a lot more going for it.

Looks like fun. I liked the Cube version. Hopefully they add more muti-player stuff. The like the ability to play a regular 9 inining game with 4 players.

I like the sports games from Mario and company, and this looks fun too [And that's incredible, because I don't like baseball].

Definitly looks awesome. The Mario sports titles have always been fun, and I'm sure sluggers will be no different. The question now is: Is where any online play?
