It's likely to be headed to the Wii, meaning that it is also going to the PS2 because that's the version we'd likely get. Anyone excited? Anybody care?
Survey spills the beans on Rock Band 2
Wii owners haven't even gotten their hands on the completely gimped Wii version of Rock Band yet and here we are, already talking about a sequel. According to a survey sent out by Listen Research, two pieces of concept art were shown, confirming the game is on the way (as if the money made wasn't confirmation enough). We have the image above, and the image that is available over at Joystiq.
It's likely to be headed to the Wii, meaning that it is also going to the PS2 because that's the version we'd likely get. Anyone excited? Anybody care?

Why is "completely gimped" crossed out? I thought you guys only crossed out sarcastic comments, not facts...
Personally I don't care about Rock Band, but if I did I wouldn't be interested in Rock Band 2 after the way they gimped the Wii version and then came up with lame excuses as to why they supposedly had to.

I couldn't agree 100000000% more.
Why is gimped crossed out?
Is Wii FanBoy not actually about reporting the FACTS anymore?
Whoremonix has completely lost out on the Wii userbase.
But more importantly Nintendo has lost out. If Nintendo had half a brain they would pull Whoremonix software license for the Wii.
It's a completely incompetent decision to allow a company (like Whoremonix) to make such an abortion of a product (like Wii Rock Band), and be allowed to promote it, and sell it.
Nintendo is the huge loser here because anyone with even half a brain will go out an buy a xBox 360 & Rock Band for that system so they can actually have a COMPLETE version of the game.
Not the castrated piece of absolute shit that Whoremonix is putting out for the Wii.
So NO, as a Wii owner, my Wii will never see a Rock Band game Not RB1, RB2, or even RB3 (if they are even around long enough to make 2 or 3). Never.
My xBox on the other hand, might. Depending on how GH:IV turns out.

Since they are screwing us the first time why care about a sequel? Just buy Guitar Hero 4 which (as they tell us) will be the same as the other versions!

That remains to be seen. However, it certainly is LESS GIMPED than Rock Band 1. Harmonix should follow the lead of Activision (that's a first) and ungimp RB2.

Nope. I'm waiting for RB to come out and then GH 4. I'll decide then who's worthy of enough cash to buy another Wii.

I stand proud in knowing that I'm excited for RockBand Wii and I'll be buying it on July 22nd. Gimped or not gimped, it's RockBand and it's on a system I have. I can't wait!

Sam here... I only have a wii. If i had a 360(I wish.) or Ps3(ROFL! YEAHRIGHT!) then I would have had Rock Band a LOONG time ago. I've played it with a friend, and the game is SUPER fun with people in the same room, so I'm not worried about online play. I was able to handle every single Guitar Hero on the Ps2 without online, so i can do it here. As far as DLC goes, 63 songs is quite a few songs. Even though I can already do expert guitar(Guitar Hero XD) I will still have all the time in the world to master drums and maybe mic. The only thing that really kinda es me off is the character customization that may or may not be included, but if it isn't, you had better be able to at least choose your own character.

I'll wait until GH4 then I'll see. With as much fun as I'm having with GH3, and confirmed tracks from some of my favorite bands in GH4, its a safe bet.

Harmonix' Rock Band, now competing to find new and exciting nuances to expand upon so as to appear fresh in a market that is not susceptible to much in the way of further innovation, has decided to offer a selling point not found in any Guitar Hero release.
Particularly unlike Activisions 3rd installment, Rock Band will tantalize Wii gamers with a lack of Mono sound instead of the well-trodden & cliché lack of Stereo.

I took this survey earlier today. They were pretty strict about the confidentiality agreement. Some people just can't keep a secret.

Like you? Confidentiality agreements on these surveys generally prohibit you from telling anyone *anything* about the survey, or even to mention that you took it.

Yeah... no. The whole thing that everyone needs to have their own hardware is a big part of this too though. I already have Guitar Hero on the Wii, thus I already have guitars that will work when GH4 comes out. And GH4 will have drums. Drums that won't work with Rock Band anyways. So yeah, I'll stick with Guitar Hero if for no other reason than I already have hardware that will work with it. Seriously, Harmonix made awesome games with Guitar Hero when it started, but they've always kinda ignored the Nintendo systems, and this time isn't any different, they're just trying to cash in on an extremely popular system, that's all.

I'm excited about getting Rock Band on Wii for two reasons: one, that it's on the Wii, and I happen to have a Wii. I also have a PS2, but that brings me to point number two: if developers start axing PS2 games anytime soon, the Wii will still be up there. Sony's little black box has a year or two left, maybe. The Wii's got a while. And if they keep making the Track Packs to go with these things, or (saints be praised!) they can figure a way to get DLC on the Wii, then I'm set. And hey, 5 extra songs is nothing to sneeze at, I s'pose.

No thanks Harmonix. You missed the Wiiboat. GH4 ftw.
The reality is that Wii will likely always be an afterthought for Harmonix. It takes a large team to develop three versions of a game, built from the ground up, for release at the same time. The easy solution is to port. Activision has a larger team; a whole host of developers. Vicarious Visions did a great job with GH3, the best one could expect for Wii, sans DLC. I predict the same for GH4 (only I'm hopeful for DLC this time). Harmonix will deliver another port with mediocre exclusives to make Wii owners feel better.
Not to mention the hardware incompatibilities...I have GH3 and I want to use my guitar on every other music/band game I buy. The best solution right now seems to be to stick with GH.
