Someone's been watching Wayne's World 2 lately.
Anyway, I tend to think Wii screenshots don't hold a candle to how the game looks in motion. The images are usually jaggy and have a very "last generation" look to them. Once you see the game in motion, you see what kind of gorgeous graphics the system is capable of despite not being HD.
I also tend to think the opposite of PS3 and Xbox 360 games. Sure the screenshots look great while sitting still and in high resolution, but that changes once you actually see the game in motion.

I agree with this.
The GC always had really bad screenshots, too. Very rarely did one see good screens from a Gamecube game...so it isn't terribly surprising to see lousy Wii screens, either. They do tend to look a lot better in motion, too. If there is jagginess, I never notice it.
I also agree that PS360 sreens look re ally good, but in motion the games don't tend to look that much better than a Wii game, really. Perhaps because there's so much happening on screen that you just don't have time to notice the details, but ultimately I find it's not that much better.

It largely depends on the game. Some games, such as Mario Galaxy and Smash Bros, look better in motion because though the screenshots are pretty, they can't possibly show off as well. Other games, such as Elebits and Okami, tend to look WORSE in motion, as stylistic decisions which are immediately apparent in a single frame look a bit unnatural when moving.

Screenshots never seem to do the games justice. Some games are better as just screenshots though, lol. I noticed this way back when SSX came to Wii. The back of that box can make you think it was made for the 64.

The screenshots of Super Paper Mario fulfilled their promise in motion. It was glorious looking: the character movement looked straight out of a saturday morning cartoon.
Every image I saw of Victorious Boxers looked utterly atrocious. Initially, that was the major deterrent for me, but when I actually played the game I saw it was really pretty. And being a fan of the show, I could see the scratchy-pencilmark influence. The look fitted together - if you understand what I mean.
Though, my brother did genuinely ask: 'you hooked up the Saturn again?'

I don't think they make anything look better or worse, they're complete representations. what's the big deal!

So you have a particular memory of the Metroid Prime 3 screenshot debacle, Alisha?
I recall that. It was a field-day for Wii haters as it seemed to prove that even dedicated first-party efforts were doomed to graphical suckage
Lovely that it was proven false

Generally speaking, it seems like Wii screenshots are sub-par. Never a good angle, always seem to be muddy, or showing the worst possible texture.
This of course doesn't always relate to the game when seen in person or via a Video. It very well could be a fantastic looking game.
Take the MadWorld screens for instance, they look horrible. Low rez textures, muddy, jaggies, etc..
