The first Wario Land Shake screens we received were utterly minuscule, but we didn't care, because hey: fully 2D Wario game. Now, one NeoGAFfer has managed to lay their hands on a further four screenshots, all with slightly larger (though still not large) dimensions. While still only about half the size that they should be, these images do at least begin to show off some of the game's lovely hand-drawn art; that jungle area made us think of another game famous for its lovingly crafted 2D backgrounds. Hit the jump for all four shots.

I'm personally quite excited about the audacity to do 2D for a retail current gen product, but if there aren't some shmexy fx in there, I can only see this being slated by the PS360 crowd.

it quite feels like a DS title to me, not cuz it's 2D (that's actually a good thing to me) but because of the caliber of 2D, we can have these games with amazing effects anyway can't we ?

I'm all for some good old fashioned 2d platforming, but yeah... this looks like a DS game.

I'm so glad that this isn't a WiiWare title--a ¥5800 price tag backs this logic, am I right? And I'm very excited about the look of this. Hopefully the graphics whores will realise the beauty in simple 2D. Super Mario World is (in my humble opinion) one of the most gorgeous games available and this seems to be in the same ball park. Only with jungles and nice environmental filters! Wooo~
And the DS thing--what's so wrong with this being a Wii title? Christ, I'm sick of playing great games on those tiny DS screens. I'm going to need glasses before I'm 25 ...

The bigger these screens get, the more excited I get for the game. I can't wait until I don't have to squint to fully appreciate them. Some video would be nice, too.

Thank God someone is making a 2D platformer. They are few and far between these days, and often under appreciated. I for one will be getting this when it is released.
I hope there are more to come.
