Raphnet's projects include not only adapters and fully-modded SNES and NES controllers, but also N64 solutions. Raphaël Assénat has documented the process of hacking custom controllers with custom circuit boards to allow them to work as Gamecube Controllers, and also sells adapters that let you plug N64 controllers directly into the Wii. People seem to like that controller for some reason.

Yeah that controller is kinda ass. SNES is the best. Wii would be best with its IR pointing and extra buttons mapped to waggle, but I don't get the 1 and 2 buttons. That was a pain in Corruption.

Using cord extenders instead of ruining the actual controller? That's genius.

Yea, I agree. I don't get why people don't like it. Yea, the d-pad wasn't useful. The thumbstick was plenty fine. I found the button placement to be spot-on.

Agreed. N64 controller is still one of my favorites. It was just so good.

Are you kidding?
Sure, they are ergonomically comfortable but the Joysticks get shot out in a month or two of use. Do you not remember the "White Joystick" syndrome where the plastic eventually gets worn away?

Yeah, that's a problem. They do get worn out way too easily, but most controllers are like that anyway.
Sure, doesn't make the problem with the N64 analog stick go away, but it's really pretty common with controllers in general.
Still love the controller, though.

The Joystiq commenter in me screams OLD NEWS IS OLD, but the hacker in me wonders why I didn't submit this news a while back...

Same here Josh. I liked the N64 controller. I never had any problems with it. People are just being stupid. They like to hate on things just because everyone else is doing it. *sigh* (MGS4, J-Rpgs,etc,etc)

I had one complaint about the n64 controller, and that's the fact that the joystick wasn't covered in any sort of rubber, like the current ones are, so it hurt your thumb after a couple hours. If you could replace the joystick with a joystick from the nunchuk, it would be the perfect controller.

Worse controller in the history of controllers.

I would agree, if not for the Atari Jaguar...

Why? What was wrong with it?
The only problem I can see is the fact that the analog stick wasn't covered in any rubber. But that's only a very minor problem, since you have to play for a looong time for it to start becoming uncomfortable, and you probably shouldn't be playing for that long anyway... so in that sense, it's a good thing! :D

Super nintendo/ "new Nintendo"(the rounded NES controllers that came with the final North American version of the NES) were by far the best base form factors. Look at every good controller since and you'll see the similarities (PS1,DualShock1/2/3, GC(minus the change to the ABXY pad) DS,GBA, Virtual Boy....etc etc..
N64 was OK I guess for a first venture into 3-D controll interfaces, but overall was just a strange gimped design....unless you have three hands that is?!
