The above video is the opening cinematic to Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World. Considering that's what video we started off with in this very post, you can safely assume that there will be more videos, full of spoilers. Sure, all the text is in Japanese, but we're sure at least one thing will be spoiled for you, should you watch them. So, before you head past the break, keep that in mind.

For some reason I'm entranced by the song on the title screen...

Oh wow! I thought this game was just a monster raising battle game, like Pokemon. I'm glad to see that you can actually fight like in the last game. The monster raising it just there to help you.
I'm so totally getting this game.

You should check out Tales of Symphonia for the gamecube. It would probably help you better understand the story in this game, which is the sequel. I know you can get it for very cheap.

I know, I have already played it and beat it. That's why I said "just like the last game."

Reminds me of Eternal Sonata, which was a fairly good game.

I'm not watching all of these because I don't really want to risk remembering some spoiler when I play this game in five months, and I'm expecting a lot from this story. Kind of weird seeing so many of the same environments looking pretty much exactly as they did in the first, but I really can't see it as laziness, as so many seem to be quick to accuse this sequel of. I expect this game is going to stand well on its own.

I cant be the only one here who would happily engage in intercourse (nonsexual, im not a furrie) with Sonic the Hedgehog if Sega brought Skies of Arcadia 2 and Valkyria Chronicles to the Wii. Even though Valkyria is a PS3 game, its art style could easily make it a beautiful game even if it was scaled down. The Wii and the DS both seem to carry that hardcore, dungeon crawler RPG base, thanks to Gamefreak and their army of Pocket Sized Monsters invading every child's Gameboy GBC, GBA, DS at such an early age. And we need more people like Atlus and more games like this and Fire Emblem that can fill the void.

Mm...regarding the cinematic opening...
Here's hoping that's only a small part of the anime cinema. Not to say they should overload the game with FMVs...
But that they don't put just ONE SINGLE 2D FMV in DoNW like they did in the original. I'm exaggerating, I know. But I think the only scenes that qualified for the "anime cutscenes" that they paraded about were the opening sequence, the first sight of the tower, the collapse of the tower (?) and the ending. The two tower scenes were like...25-30 seconds long, if that.
To stop complaining, I'm so psyched to play this game. I'm not totally warmed up to the idea of the monster catching-raising thing, but I'll probably like it more when I can actually play it.
(I'm going to miss my team of Lloyd-Raine-Zelos-Sheena.)

Apparently there will be very little FMVs in the game. Instead, the game will mostly contain in-game graphics cut scenes. I personally like FMVs, but I'm not really surprised that Tales isn't overloading us with cut scenes since the original Symphonia game's cut scenes were very sparse and this game's budget was probably very small in comparison to Vesperia and the original Symphonia game.
I'm not too thrilled about the monster catching thing, but I'll deal with it. This game looks too good to pass up just because of that. And I love the characters far too much to just drop it.
