Rock Band guitars don't play nice with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith
While the above image comes from the Xbox 360 port of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, we're fairly certain the same can be said of the Wii version of the game. In all likelihood, it doesn't play nice with your Rock Band guitar. But, considering how gimped Rock Band is for the Wii (let's hope that Rock Band 2 is a more full-fledged port, like Guitar Hero: World Tour), we're sure most of you are enjoying the game with your wireless Les Paul from Guitar Hero III.

The headline is deceiving. Activision is blocking the RB guitar, not the other way 'round. Harmonix have always said they believe it's best for the consumers and the companies if all peripherals are compatible, whereas Activision keeps saying the opposite.
But I don't really care. Anyone actually buying Guitar Hero anymore? It's so watered down and just a dump of a handful of songs with slight gameplay tweaks for $60. Activision says they plan to release 30 versions of Guitar Hero within the next year... ugh.
Back when Harmonix made the first Guitar Hero it was fresh new and exciting, but now that it's in Activision's hands it's just a blatant attempt at sucking wallets dry with no real inspiration fueling the series.

They should if they want me to buy it. I'm not going to buy another plastic guitar.

I was mildly tempted to buy GH3 until I heard that the RB strat doesn't work in it. So they should allow it if they want my $$.

I would never expect them to be compatible, nor have I. It's silly for people to expect directly competing companies to play nice with each other. May as well complain that you can't use a Wiimote on the 360.

No it is not silly. In fact, it is to both of their benefit to allow compatibility. Instead of half the people getting one game, most of the people would get both. And the customer doesn't get screwed- which also increases sales.

Except that they both want to sell you more plastic toys, so why would they create a situation where you can just use a competitors garbage instead?

360 owners report otherwise. Strats are working with Guitar Hero Aerosmith on it. Wii is pretty obvious (too late in development to fix) and the PS3 is still unsure.
Anyway, that looks fake up there. Not exactly sure, but still. It just doesn't look right.

Yeah, a lot of commenters on other sites are saying they work, and that it's fake...

I havent tried but I dont see how it would, I dont think RB maps the wiimote buttons to the colors.
I'll have to give it a try tonight, but I dont see anyway it'd work.
It'd sure be killer if it did work though the RB guitar is crap, the strum bar is way too soft, it needs to click.
