Famitsu's article about Mega Man 9 features the same beautiful screenshots we got in Nintendo Power last week, with one exception: the small image seen here, featuring a greyscale Mega Man next to the real one. The article wonders if this could be a playable character, although in the infobox at the top of the article, Famitsu identifies Mega Man 9 as a single-player game. It could be an alternate character, or just a costume choice, or a new weapon-based color scheme, or even an enemy! The infobox also says that Mega Man 9 is scheduled for September. If this really does follow the NES games, then minimal translation will be necessary (and hastily done), so we can look forward to jumping through boss doors soon!

That was in response to "It could be an alternate character, or just a costume choice, or a new weapon-based color scheme, or even an enemy!"
Did you read that portion of the article or did you just feel like giving my comment some random monosyllabic reply?

It looks nothing like Bass. It looks like a palette swap of Megaman.

Considering there has never been an 8-bit Bass, I don't think my comment was so abyssmally stupid as to warrant nothing more than a smartass "What?"

Wasn't there a weapon in Megaman and Bass that would let you make a greyscale copy of Megaman or Bass would shoot weak projectiles at enemies while you carried on with your business?
This is probably a slightly more advanced version of that. At least I hope so, that'd be pretty cool.

It was already said that in Galaxy Man stage, (I think it was Galaxy Man) dark copies of Mega Man will pop out as enemies or something.

Who knows?
Dark Mega Man enemies sound cool, but It's been done before.
In Megaman 1, and in Megaman 3. He copies megaman and you have to fight the copy.
I think in three he actually makes more than 1 to fight all at once.

If this is true my money is locked in. True I would prefer Mega Man 7 style graphics, but I am sucker for anything retro so I am in.

A little off subject... but after getting ahold of some of these images I made a nice little wallpaper in honor of the coming of the new game. It's located http://www.xdreamer.org/megaman09.jpg - I only did a res to fit my monitor, but if it interests folks I'll resize it for various monitor sizes. I've been waiting years for this game.
