This week sees the Virtual Console receiving only one game, but, thankfully, it's a good game. Never played King of the Monsters before? Well, hit up the video above for some gameplay footage, then head past the break for more.

King of the Monsters (NeoGeo, 1-2 players, 900 Wii Points)
Wii Fanboy says: do not download
King of the Monsters is a great game, don't get us wrong. But, like the majority of NeoGeo offerings on the Virtual Console, 900 Wii Points for a single title is kind of a rip. Especially when you consider that this game, along with several other Virtual Console games from SNK, are available on compilations, such as SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1. If you can pick that up, go for it, but it's not reccomended you pay the hefty price for just this one Virtual Console title, when you could easily get a compilation disc for around twice the price and get more than a few games.

This was was SO FUN in the arcades... but I'm having trouble forking over the 900 points for it at home. I find myself saying that alot. I think they need to lower all the prices about 200 points for me to become a downloadin' fool. Like that'll ever happen.

I enjoyed KOTM2 on SNES much more than this one. Its more fast paced and somewhat easier, especially with two players. Like he said, this ones more of a wierd wrestling type game, where as #2 is more of a traditional side scroll beat 'em up with KOTM1 mechanics- the pinning. Now if only they would put TMNT IV on the VC.

Yes, because the download is $9 and you can get that, plus many other SNK titles already available on the Virtual Console, in the SNK Arcade compilation for $15 on PS2 and $30 on Wii.
