We've already documented our feelings about Castlevania's transformation into a 3D fighting game, but it wasn't until this morning that we got a proper look at the game in motion. It's not actually all that bad! Okay, so the lip-synching is a bit off, most of the lines positively reek of cheese ("I'm a Belmont -- that's my job"), and some of the voice acting makes the guy behind Leon Kennedy seem almost De Niro-esque.
Such quibbles aside, we suppose this is the best that could be done with a Castlevania fighting game. Environments and characters are solidly built, there are some pleasant enough effects, the music is great, and we're pleased they opted for a free-roaming style, if only because it reminds us of Power Stone. Make the jump for a trailer and some direct-feed footage.

Looks fine, but I'm wondering about variety. Using the same attack over and over would kill the game, so I hope they work with it.

What is my wallet? A miserable pile of emptiness once this comes out.

Still seems ironic that a fighting game we were all waiting for turned into an adventure game in Soul Calibur Legends, and was crap.
And that an adventure game we were also waiting for turned into a fighter in Castlevania Judgment. So fingers crossed not for a repeat!
Did Namco and Konami devs swap heads in the night??!!??

How can everyone go from completely trashing this game and how bad it looks to saying 1st day buy. The game still looks like trash, the idea to make a fighting game is still stupid, and it's still an abomination that they didn't give the Wii a true Castlevania game.

It does remind me a lot of the Soul Caliber games. I've never been a huge fan of the castlevenia series but this might be worth a rental. That is if there are actually more than 4 characters in the final game.

There are a few/some things to comment on, but I'll focus on two:
[C-vania character (was it Alucard?)] < Ansem in relation to calling out "Submit!" (or, as I type it for Ansem, "SUBMIT!*").
Thank you, there are not-as-fruity alternate costumes (or at least one). Hm, think they'll have an 8-bit swap on Simon?
*heh, typo'd "SUMBIT!"

The character design wasn't the best of the series. I mean, Simon is... ok, and Alucard seems nice, but Dracula is wierd and Maria.... poor Maria. Those multiples white crosses in his clothes plus the strong pink make her design.. awful.
