As a personal aside, I've gotta say that I'm a huge fan of the original. I have no complaints about the save system or the game format, or really anything else with the Xbox 360 title. At first, the changes to the Wii version -- to the format, not the number of zombies; we'll get there -- seemed disheartening. But if you look at it as a completely different game, one that's meant to be a happy fun-time zombie-killing mall adventure, then hey! Sign us all up for a little chopping 'til we drop. And that's what this video is all about: enjoying the carnage for carnage's sake.
But the lack of floods of zombies is a concern. Anyone else hoping for video of the maintenance tunnels? And, despite the use of the giant parasol here, Al Fresco Plaza just won't be the same without hordes of the undead. But maybe the fact that it won't be the same is the point.

I read the post, the post also admits the 360 version is way better.
Face it, this is a dumbed-down port. Of course it's going to be the inferior version.

this...looks...horrible...
even RE4 was looking better than this, and that was a GC/PS2 port, this is a 360 port, and looks terribly bad, after seeing this, i might not get it

Well it certainly doesn't look as crisp as the 360 version and there is some serious lack of detail that needs some polishing work but given the lack of good titles on the platform this year I'm actually quite looking forward to this.

Just like you say, you have to see it like a completely different game, else you will be kinda dissapointed.
This game was one of the few that had me wanting to buy a 360 (still wanting one, there are some games I do really wanna play) but still, 'll be getting this game. And yeah, maybe there are not that many zombies, but then again, a fact is, as the game proceds, the number of zombies increases, so, i'm not paying attention to this video and will get the game myself, then I can decide either i'm disappointed or not

Simply lame. Listen, this is Capcom here, why are we settling for them to rehash a game that could only be great on a more powerful system like the 360. The selling point is clearly missing, more zombies... don't lower your standards and act like this will be a decent title. There are a multitude of games releasing for the Wii that will put us in the right direction. This is a slap in the face for such a great company to be rehashing stuff like this and having to DUMB it down, sad. And yes, I do remember them doing Okami for us, but number that game should have been on the Wii and 2, they soo dropped the ball on the controls.. why did a bloody circle have to be sooo hard? >.

So wait, the entire fun of Dead Rising was just a million zombies on-screen? 'cause I thought the fun in Dead Rising was trying to survive swarms of zombies, exploring the mall, and -killing- stuff. As opposed to, you know, just seeing a crapload of dead people.
There have been quite a number of titles that have done just fine on a weaker system. This isn't "dumbed down", it's "retooled". Dumbed down would mean that it's watery, easier, and only uses a single button. =P
This is still a rather early-looking build, so I doubt it'll stay at that video's level.

lol, let me edit that comment then. When I refer to dumbed down it is simply the less-hoardes of zombies we have to survive. Errr, ya dumbed down isn't the right term to apply here but I will =) Either way I feel with less zombie the feeling of oh my word, im surviving an zombie invasion is taken away >.

Dumbed down is the perfect term to use.
They changed the save system to remove a sense of danger
They removed the time limits to remove the sense of excitement racing to the finish line
They removed a significant amount of zombies to further remove the sense of danger
Wii can't do HD, surround sound, or even match the level of graphics of Dead Rising on 360 played in on an SD TV.
Everything about this version is dumbed down, and it saddens me Capcom wasted time/effor/money on this instead of a sequel that we'll now have to wait a minimum of 2 years for because they worked on this.

Whats up with the repetitive "daaaaghhhh!" sound he makes when swinging that big wooden thing (bench?) I really hope they record more sounds by the time the game is released.

I’m interested in this game based on it’s accurate depiction of “Mall Security”.

I'm a Wii die-hard here, but 5 or 6 zombies just won't cut it. I played the 360 version once and was pumped by how many zombies my weapons could mow through at once. Now, the answer is, like, 2.
(I'll still buy it though...)

the game looks awful...U.C. had better graphics and wasn't that from like a year ago? to the best of my understanding the wii could handle much better looking games.

Well, the only thing I can think of that may be the cause is that there will be more zombies in later levels (supposedly up to 100), so of course, you won't have high quality models like in RE4 and UC, since there were only about 10 zombies on screen max in those games. They would also have to downgrade the scenery for the same reason, though hopefully not as much as we're seeing here. Either that, or they're being lazy. -_-

They are really using RE4 engine with a new skin. Shotgun sounds are exactly the same.

i think all the sounds are exactly the same. at least the ones that would make sense that they used. i even think the poodle when shot sounded like the dogs/wolves in re4 when they were shot.

As I was gettin ready to watch the video i was elated... I thought Capcom would save me from selling my Wii and 'upgrading'... This, I assume, is only an early build... I had a 360 and Dead Rising was the first game I got for it, it was great, the 360 died, returned it, there were Wiis in stock so I got it and as a 'casual/former core gamer' was liking it, didn't mind the decent ports, was disappointed with the online, started to get disappointed with the shovelware, then... E3!!! I wanted to sell it right then and there but Capcom announced Dead Rising for the Wii... After RE4 I thought I would hold on and see how DR will look and play... now I see that footage, and I dunno, might have to get somethin else... Please let this be a VERY early build, Please let this be a VERY early build...
What do you former hardcore now casual players think? Anyone else thinking this or am I an anomaly?

Sooo....
Can anyone confirm that this is a early- build preview? I hope!
I am a casual gamer, and love zombies; so this would be great.
A few things I noticed:
1) Not much shot-specific damage to the zombies. They all kind-of fall down in one piece no matter what. Although I think I saw one zombie's head disappear.
2) The blood seemed almost comic-like as it appeared and disappeared almost as quickly.
3) When shot with the shotgun, the zombies seemed to jump back a step, pause, then tip over backwards....not too realistic.
I would almost have to say that this is a pre-release build, because the physics and realism are worse than many other games for the wii that have been out for almost 2 years now..
We'll see!
