According to a statement given to Nintendo-Online by Sega of Germany, Platinum Games' MadWorld and the newly-announced House of the Dead: Overkill will not be released in Germany. Based on what has been shown so far, Sega does not believe that the restrictive USK ratings board would give the games a rating, and so rather than go to the trouble of changing all the enemies into robots, they have opted not to release them.
In other news, gamers and press from all over the world are in Germany this week to see new games like Sega's MadWorld and House of the Dead: Overkill at the Leipzig Games Convention.

Man, this sucks !
Maybe this game is sick and brutal, but nevertheless it's art. They should givie it a chance.
It's not that terrible though, because we can import such games from Austria or England anyway.

I feel bad for them and everything but all i care about at this point is that the game is released here in its gory entirety and that it doesn't disappoint.

Either the news spreads pretty fast or someone is actually reading the comments here to make news posts out of them. At least that bit here is almost exactly what I wrote over at the HotD trailer comments. Anyhow, it's a shame but our Austrian friends usually get the uncensored stuff sans border controls so I'm going to play this, German or not.

by the way, how do you spell that word in this context? I can't google it because it comes back with the device instead of the word.

I believe it's spelled "segue".
Well, although I feel sorry for all the German gamers who were pumped for these titles, I have to admit this news isn't shocking.

@Alien Pirate: Well, you don't have to be sorry. Not more than for over protecting institutions in other places. At least we get to choose from many a country around us that isn't so whiny and import stuff across our open borders. And unlike the British we don't even have to spend that much more money on importing stuff.

I had a feeling this would happen to Mad World, and this only solidifies my initial worries for the UK release. I have no idea why Sega didn't bother with House of the Dead, though. It's not that violent.

Germany: We're afraid that exposing our youth to violence will lead to a craving to re-start the holocaust

As a German let me re-phrase that:
Germany: We are ignorant of our problems and don't want to talk to our kids about what was really wrong with the Holocaust because we would have to admit that maybe our own parents decided to stay ignorant and let all this shit happen because they greatly benefitted from it. In this good tradition we stay ignorant ourselves and let much more shit happen as long as we can reap some benefits for ourselves. Why bother solving problems when you can lock them out of the country or hide them from the kids ...
This is just my cynical view of what's wrong with my country after 25 years of trying to find an answer.

No big news, rather predictable.
I'm going to import it from Austria or the UK.
No big deal.
