Once again, Hudson Soft has updated their Virtual Console page with a release date for Ys Book I & II. They say it will be out this Monday. Last time they dated Ys, Nintendo chose not to release it or any of the other games that had been announced for that day, choosing totally different games instead. Will it show up for real this time? We hope so. We'll have 800 points ready. Would Nintendo really do that to the same game twice? Well, okay, but will they?
Ghostfire Games also sent out a press release announcing that their rhythm/exercise game Helix will be released on WiiWare this Monday for 1,000 points. We wish both companies the best of luck in having their games released.
Hudson says Ys coming out next week (again), may be joined by Helix

Its rather awkward seeing companies wanting to release games but getting shunned.
Its like Doritos saying 'HEY! New flavor of a chip! RELEASE!!'
Then the hierarchy just yawns 'Nah, not now.'

Nintendo's authoritarian tactics never disappeared after the NES era, they just morphed into a different form.
Even a Megazord isn't enough to convince Nintendo to start announcing release dates of VC games. They're still stubborn as ever.

Nintendo (particularly NOA) has been handling the whole VC fiasco quite badly, especially when you have to consider they are competing with emulators. They have such an immense catalog they should be releasing like 10 titles a week at a few bucks cheaper then what they are selling for now. I mean, how many TG16, Genesis, Master System, MSX, NES, Super NES, etc. games never saw the light of day outside of Japan?
The VC is the biggest waste of potential and it makes me sad.

Me too, Sisyphus. I've been waiting for Y's Book I & II since the day I heard they were doing not only TG16 games, but TurboCD games. It really is one of my favorite games of all time, from the voice acting to the music. I PRAY they get it out this time. It was one of the very best TG16 CD games released, although there were several other gems on that machine that I hope they release, too. The TG16 really was an underrated system, and I want more!! (CyberCore, I'm looking at you!!)

My TurboDuo has seen better days, so I'd love as many of my old TG16 games as possible on the VC. Although, I wonder how It Came From The Desert has aged.... probably so horribly that it would be awesome. It was always meant to be like a B-movie, but it would probably really seem like it now.

I hope Nintendo doesn't hear about that press release. I wouldn't want the rug pulled under me a 2nd time. Hopefully I will be playing Y's tomorrow!
