Naruto, shovelware/minigames. Naruto is good for people who like it, but we don't need 15 different games. Also, minigames are ok. Heck, I even bought shovelware title from Sam's the other day, because it was a monster truck game, got my girlfriend into video games, and it's funny to play. But I'm sick of all of the BAD shovelware and mingames, like Carnival Games ($40?! Come on!) and all those Mythmakers games.

Official Nintendo press shots of ancient geriatrics pretending to be "amazed" by playing Wii/DS.
Games with 'Sports', 'Party' or 'Training' in the title.
Looking at Wii and DS software sales charts and seeing far too many games with 'Sports', 'Party' or 'Training' in the title.
Tacky, contrived gimmicks masquerading as innovation; shaking remote/nunchuk to perform an action that has nothing to do with shaking, blowing/yelling into DS microphone, using Balance Board, etc. What next? "To perform an attack you must fart into the controller, the bigger the fart, the more powerful the attack".
Nintendo droning on about "casual gamers", "the expanded audience", "disruptive technologies", etc, etc.
Ubisoft.
Bland, soulless "Wii Would Like To Play" commercials stupidly used to advertise core games.
Just some off the top of my head.

If I remember correctly "Wii would like to play" was used to advertised to casual gamers - as it seems fun, friendly, and stylish.
...I'm not sure if Nintendo ever intended it to be towards core gamers... I'm sure core gamers were part of the mix, but not the main ingredient.

"Wii Would Like To Play" was used for Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime 3, Mario Galaxy and Brawl amongst others (luckily Mario Kart got the cool Cowboy Jed, which was genuinely fun rather than the soulless fun of "Wii Would Like To Play"). I just don't think they give any sense of the depth, fun, beauty and awesomeness of those amazing games. "Wii Would Like To Play" makes all games look like casual party games. And even though something like the Mario brand is far too strong to be affected by a boring commercial for Galaxy, you could argue that Metroid Prime 3 really suffered with that bland ad. Metroid Prime 3 a casual game? I don't think so. It should have been epic.

Lets see, first of all, I'm sick of wii warm ups. Sick of nintendo fanboys. Sick of every idiot that says that if the wii gets an mmorpg it should be a ZELDA MMORPG. Sick of god damned mario. Sick of how nintendo prefers to ride out their franchises into the mud rather than actually putting some imagination into it and designing a new one.
Oh and I hate how you either have to get the fugly gamecube controller or the mega uncomfortable wii classic one.

omg, I forgot, I'm also sick of all the press coverage megaman 9 is getting and that it seems that I'm the only one pissed at how they keep spitting out that "oh no, 2D gaming is what its all really about, because they are simple challenges, but they are challenging non the less!"
Can't they make a god damned megaman game that looks good AND is challenging? It also pisses me off how the representatives look sooo excited about the game every time they talk about it and its like they are just releasing a ROM from 1990. God forbid they'd be a little bit innovative instead of constantly looking back and thinking 'how can we repeat that?'.

What bugs me about Epic Games is that all their games are essentially the same thing and have made that style (ie. brown/grey FPS with macho space-marines) seem like the only thing western developers can ever aspire to. Man, I think you're really going to like it. I got a 360 after E3 because Nintendo sure didn't show me anything I want to buy for the rest of this year. But the 360 just has SOOO many great looking games, it is hard to restrain myself from buying too many at once. I highly recommend Bioshock, if you're over 17. It made the purchase of the 360 feel worthwhile almost by itself.

I'm just going to be totally honest and say that I left one out:
People complaining about not having a hard drive. I have seen no real need for a hard drive to date. Once one arises, I'll probably want a hard drive as well. If GH4 takes up a lot of space, I will want one, I'm sure.
But at the current time, the only people that need one are people who go crazy on the Shop channel and buy games that they never play more than once. Or gamesaves that they never use. They're also collectively too lazy to move said never-played artifacts to an SD card of decent size.
Seriously, get over it. Wii ftw.
If you have any problems, get into homebrew and fix them yourselves. It'll actually make something out of your time instead of aggravating everyone else.

When people say "gimmicky" about every control-style that uses movement.
When people complain about Nintendo being at fault for many products that were sold for the Wii, when really it was another company that made them.
When people complain about a game that they've never played.
When people post in Wii Fanboy just to thrash on the Wii because "Nintendo betrayed them" for four reasons:
1. They think they're important enough that a corporation actually directed a personal-assault against them.
2. They say that the Wii will never get any great games, and yet they don't sell their Wii as if afraid that a great game will actually come out - ****ing hypocrites and cowards. *OR* They sold their Wii, and honestly have nothing better with their to do than yakyakyakcomplainyak on a blog that's made to cater for Wii-lovers. *OR* They talk bad about the Wii because they're PS360 fanboys, and feel like their e-pen*s will grow if they bully Wii fanboys.
3. They aim to piss off the natives and act as if they're being molested the instant the natives want them OUT.
4. They feel tough from behind their computer screen, and try to be SOMEONE when no one really knows who they are in real life.
When people complain that it's all Nintendo's fault for the crappy line-up for the Wii - when it's the 3rd parties that make the awful games.
When people complain everyday on Wii Fanboy... day-in... day-out... and I wish they'd just sell their Wii already. Be a bit optimistic, guys. If you like your Wii for VC, WiiWare, or upcoming games - then be a bit thankful for your Wii!
When people read an article in joystiq, and decided to comment badly on it in Wii Fanboy - because they've got no life.
When people try to convince other people that the Wii is awful - think about it kids: If the Wii is that awful, then the people will sell it themselves. If they don't, then don't hang around them anymore. Simple as that.
When people become converted to PS360 and become as hateful and annoying as the PS360 fanboys when they see the Wii - they act as if they've been long-time Nintendo fans and the Wii was the worst choice they've made in their lives::: Face it kiddies, you were those 12-16 year olds who fell in love with the Playstation & Playstation 2. You were a shallow gamer, with few real optimism and joy for old-school. You don't know even 1/4th of the library in the VC, and you probably mocked the GameCube when it came out. JUST ADMIT IT, you fell for the Wii-hype and rode that train with all the other 'tards who couldn't tell the difference between a Sega Saturn and a Jaguar! You're no Nintendo fanboy, Nintendo fanboys were optimistic and patient. Patient cuz most Nintendo systems were late, and many game releases were late - and they didn't care, they only cared about one thing: HAVING FUN.
But of course, you don't care if it's fun - you care about the power of the system and only serious games with lots of blood! You're riding the FPS-hype-train that's just filled with a bunch of brain-dead idiots! FPSs are awesome and sweet, but they get tiring! I don't care if they added an RPG element to it, I don't care if it's 3rd-person, I don't care if there's new enemies - THEY ALL PLAY VERY SIMILARLY!!!
...and PS360 fanboys - don't diss on me as if I'm a Nintendo fanboy who's never touched another controller in my life.
I've owned and still own more systems than you and your cousin can put together. I play the same games you do.
But guess what? I still love the Nintendo community better than you idiots! It was your community that destroyed the meaning of gaming, and created hype-trains that led to the same kind of games over and over!
Go ahead and say that the Wii has lost its edge, so leave it and don't come back until you want forgiveness when a great game comes out! Say all you like that a great game will never come out - guess what? They are. And you know what's gonna' happen when you come crawling back to the Wii? You know what we're gonna' do to ya'? -that's right! We're gonna' tell you "welcome back!" and give you cookies and milk! Because we ain't like ya'!
--end rant :/

Gears has an option for a "vibrant" graphics setting that shows more color. I've turned that on and turned up the brightness a little. Everything is still a bit washed out, but I think it is better than the default.
But not everyone is trying to go that utterly bleak route either. Look at some of the scenes from Half-Life 2. I've actually looked around for a bit just to check out the sunset or the cityscape or some rock formation because they are so pretty. Then there's the FarCry series which is known for its lush island settings. Bioshock is very dark, but has plenty of color as well as some beautiful art direction. There is actually a lot of variety out there.

I'm sick of the idea of a "core-gamer" audience versus a "casual" audience for modern video games. All games should be made to be enjoyed by anyone (mature content aside) based on three (that I can name at the moment) fundamental principles, games should be fun to play, accessible and provide realistic challenge (either progressive or through difficulty settings).
I also can't stand hearing execs talk about "the expanded market"
