Apparently, we're late to the party on this one, as folks have been steaming mad over a hack that allows players to toss an infinite number of blue shells during online races. While the video above does not show you the code, it does show you the damage that can be done. We've got a solution, however. Play Mario Kart Wii with us at Game Night!
Having run Game Night for almost two years now, we can safely say nobody there cheats. We all enjoy multiplayer games together, the way they were meant to be played. So check it out!
[Thanks, Rengifo!]

It's things like this that make me wonder how nintendo intends to correct these types of issues.

IF you are so scaried that these hackers are going to ruin Mario Kart Wii's online, than just get some friend codes and play with friends.

mario kart wii online isnt like ssb brawl online. its actually designed well. very rarely do you have 12 or even significantly less than that online at the same time on your friends list. plus if you have 4 other friends online, you want the bigger race so those 4 friends join the same random online race. so playing other people from around the world is usually the best option.

The funny thing is that it still doesn't give him that much of an advantage. This further proves my second point, that mario kart never has been a balanced game, and winning usually comes domn to chance rather than skill, so cheating is kind of like breaking someones door to steal their sandwich. Sure, you got a sandwich, but why the hell did you really bother?

He's slowing down on purpose to launch more shells.

I agree to some extent on the luck aspect but there's definitely a good amount of skill involved. I mean if you know your tracks well and use all the helpful tricks (wheelies on bikes, avoiding the pow slow down, air tricks, shortcuts, blocking shells) then you can easily overlap some people.

Man, if this game had online chat, I could imagine all the swering over this guy
This is so fucked, I hjat blue shell, receiving it and using
For me, Mario Kart is more of items than skill or change, one can be the best runner of the world but recieve a blue shell a few inches off the goal and end in 12th place (it has happened to me, more than once)

True it doesn't give him any kind of real advantage. anytime he would be in first he'd just be blowing up himself, but it sure is fun to crush other players.

Whoa kids, come down now. Trying this online will only affect the race VERY SLIGHTLY. Nintendo does have some way of detecting this cheating and the players using it will get kicked off usually within the first lap -- seriously.
I was fascinated when I started a race with these two punks who where constantly getting the big items (bullet bill, lightning cloud, star, blue turtle shell, etc.) but they disappeared within 40 seconds.
No worries! This manipulation with the Twilight Hack doesn't seriously screw you over if you're a decent racer.

If there is a way to track the use of this, those found abusing it should have their account banned - as in have their kart code revoked irreversibly.
While I agree that Kart is a cheating-ass game, I still find it fun, and despite it's severe imbalance I still manage to win a fair amount. My VR score tends to hover in the low to mid 8000 range... so while luck plays in to it a lot, a skilled driver will still place high more often than not.

LOL, this is my video and I do have a few things to say.
1. Nintendo does not kick people with this within the first lap, I haven't been kicked once.
2. This game is definitely more skill involved, I have 9999 VR (without hacks) and have kept it for a long time.
3. I am not one of those cheating ass holes, cheating to get my VR points, I have almost 3000 VR with my hack account. I try to lose every race I use this in.

There is a guy that can do it with red shells his name is Fishman, and he fucked with me on 10/13/08 at about 10 p.m. central time. I dont know how he did it....he didnt even need to hit a ? to get the shells. He hit me with about 20 shells on Mushroom gorge before I even got a ?. It was insane. Then I went on here to find out how he did it, and it looks like nobody knows or wants to give up the information.

Yeah, I just discovered this when playing against a guy named "A. Candy" around midnight PST, on the worldwide channel. I knew something was wrong when I got nuked with a blue shell before we'd even hit the first set of cubes... dude didn't even bother trying to race, just waiting till people passed him and then powering up with a blue shell or gold star or gold/red mushroom.
I'm guessing that the A is for 'assholish'.

also, look out for a 1 star "gonza".. you will be in 1st place, and then on the last lap, right before the finish line he will win, he will just wait for the last lap
