Animal Crossing/WiiSpeak bundle gets priced
The WiiSpeak microphone add-on should add a fresh dimension to the Animal Crossing: City Folk experience, and having awkward conversations with fellow internet people about fruit prices won't even be that expensive. Nintendo reps have informed a GameStop manager's conference in Las Vegas that the City Folk and WiiSpeak bundle would retail at $69.99 (the equivalent of 423 apples, five Porcelettas, and a Red Snapper at today's dollar-to-Bells rate) when the game releases in November.
That's a tenner less expensive than purchasing the game and peripheral separately, and obviously you'll be able to use WiiSpeak in other titles. Sound fair to you?

Is this like unlisted numbers where you have to pay extra not to get something?
It looks like we're talking about $20 for Wiispeak, which isn't awful, but frankly, I don't want it until I see the third-party options, namely a headset.

Sound crap to me: I'd never pay 50$ for a new animal crossing and so this bundle price is ridiculously over the top. I own a Wii myself as the only "current gen" machine and I'm interested how Wii speak gets used in future titles but this is just not my type of deal. Now if they bundled that with something like the conduit where it would get used for team based gameplay or something I could see the point. In any case I'm looking at at least 30$ of additional peripherals for every player of my console and that's not something to take lightly as of now.
I'm going to Wii laugh a bit now.

Doesn't anyone realize that AC:City Folk has already been released? It's actually under two different names that can be found in stores now: Animal Crossing and Animal Crossing: Wild World. They're all the same game and you can play them now!
All kidding aside...I tried to get into AC and AC:WW and I just couldn't do it. I thought AC:CF might be different in that one would be able to explore numerous villages of other online AC:CF players. However, it wasn't meant to be and I probably won't give this game a second thought. This could have been a response to Sony's "Home" network or Microsoft's social network. In the era of Facebook, MySpace, etc...it's surprising that Nintendo didn't expand the potential of AC:CF to incorporate more of a social online aspect into the game. Any thoughts?

I love Animal Crossing, but probably won't pay $69.99... I'll just wait till the price comes down.

70 bells?!!! How exactly does Nintendo justify that price? Now I loved the first AC on GCN, but, come on, the game w/mic should be no more than $50. Actually, $40 w/mic would be a fair price point since the game has been designed with what appears to be previously-used assets and the microphone is no doubt made of the cheapest components possible.

Since I live in an area where I don't have access to broadband, therefore making Wii Speak a useless piece of plastic to me, I'm definitely hoping they sell just the game, too.
Buuut they probably won't.

I would like if it were $50(see In the Movies + Vision Cam bundle) or even $60, but it's better than paying $80 I guess. At least if a 3rd-party headset came out, I could resell it for the $30 with a GameStop employee being none the wiser. (*evil laugh*)
And at least the extra $10 bucks can be saved towards The Conduit! :D

WiiSpeak ... ugh. That's so disgusting, definitely passing the bundle option up. These peripherals that Nintendo keeps throwing at us are starting to embarrass me (god knows when the pacifying storage bit gets out for the pirating bunch here). When I hear "headset" I think of 14 year-old 360 boys slinging profanities just because they can.
AND THUS THE FALL OF WESTERN CIVILISATION.
