Suda and team recount making of No More Heroes
Toilets seem to go hand-in-hand with Goichi Suda and No More Heroes. Around the time of the game's release, Suda mischievously compared making the game to defecating, and he's now revealed that he was inspired to make No More Heroes while perched on the porcelain throne. This in turn led to the title's quirky save mechanic, as seen above.
These are just two nuggets from a "Making of No More Heroes" piece at the Official Nintendo Magazine site. Suda also mentions how Johnny Knoxville influenced the character of Travis Touchdown, while artist Katsuyoshi Fukamachi and assistant director Toshihiro Fujikawa reflect on the myriad challenges they faced during No More Heroes' eight-month development cycle, including the chaotic final weeks, which both describe as a "total nightmare." It's definitely worth a read, partly because Suda is one of the industry's most entertaining and frank interviewees, but also because he's talking about one of the best Wii games of the last twelve months.

Not surprising. Graphics, physics, most of it was neglected. I could see the game going together rather quickly

I've only just managed to get a hold of this game, and I love it. On the final boss at the moment, who's proving a bitch to beat, but the whole game has been great. I never thought I'd play an action game with Spinning Backfist->Dragon Suplex combos and Tombstone Piledrivers. WIN.

That picture is just plain unnecessary.
Really, I can't cope with that.

I purchased this game 2 weeks ago and Indeed it was very short in fact too short for a game this awesome. I loved everything even the jobs;I just had to treat this game more like a assassin simulator instead of a game. (Sounds dumb but it worked for me)

Such a great game my favorite game for the Wii so far. I agree BigAmos17 it was too short for a game so awesome. I wish there was a little more to do in between ranked fights other than jobs and assassination missions (can get a little redundant) but still alot of fun and pretty damn funny. I especially loved the customization (clothes) more games need to do that.

No More Heroes is (excepting Brawl) bar none the best game on Wii (oh, and Twilight Princess doesn't count, its a Gamecube game with waggle), and really one of the most purely entertaining gaming experiences I've had in years. The whole retro motif of the game suited it perfectly, playing it made me feel like I was back on the old skool platforms, just having non-stop fun without arbitrated complexity. Its also the first game in a very long time (since maybe SNES?) that actually impelled me to beat the New Game + mode, which ranks as one of the most challening and rewarding playthroughs of any game I've ever played.
Please, please, PELASE Suda, make NMH 2! I beg of you! Grant the older, hardcore Wii owners a reprive of this onslaught of casual mediocrity! I've got Tales 2, MadWorld and Overkill on my radar as of right now, that's it.
After you're done with that next-gen collaboration with Mikami, which will surely kick ass beyond belief, give Travis another go, there are certainly a great deal of loose-ends to clear up in any case.

Yeah, if you were looking for any type of depth in NMH, you would be sadly disappointed. Everything else was great, the humor, the toilet game saves, the complete randomness, and my favorite, the cat.
