We thought that when the Wii Zapper bundle was released, Nintendo fans would hang on to Link's Crossbow Training and dump the included plastic handle, but it appears that the opposite is true. GameStop has just dropped the price of used copies of Link's Crossbow Training from five bucks to a ridiculous $2.99. The retailer is not currently offering used Zappers on their online store.
At the amazingly low (seriously, like last year's Madden low) $2.99, Link's Crossbow Training is officially Worth It for pretty much everybody, provided they have even a passing interest in the Zelda series or in shooting at stuff. And with no Zapper, it's so much more compact! If you're planning to grab this from the online store, use coupon code CAG16 (for Cheap Ass Gamers) to get an additional 16% off the price.

The 'SAVER' code only works for orders of at least $75 or more... :(

Is the "saver code" different from the CAG code? Because I did get the extra 16% off.
I've been meaning to ebay a solo copy for some time now, but I've just been too lazy. This price, with the USA saver shipping is within spitting distance of the best final price I'd seen on ebay, so I figured, what the heck.
Without a Zapper, it's so much less humiliating too. I'd never live it down with my clan-mates if I'd bought one of those, even if I threw it away immediately.

Lame. They changed it. I used to use it to buy $1.99 PlayStation games all the time. Sorry about that.

The game is definitely worth it. It's a fun light-gun type game with a Zelda twist.
Although it's not nearly as fun without the Zapper...

This price is insane!
I was holding out for a deal- and I think I just have found one! I don't even like used games, but for 2.99, how can you go wrong?

This is seriously the only reason I bought a Zapper. It's pretty fun. The Zapper makes it less so, though. It's too awkward.

I'm an old gamer... not that I've been playing games a long time, (before I got the wii, the only game I played was Doom in God mode with all the weapons on a PC so I could shoot stuff). I'm just an old guy.
When we got the wii, I liked playing the wii shooting game that came with one of the wii packages (shooting ducks and balloons) and so I decided to move up to House of the Dead 2&3. The aiming was MUCH more responsive. After playing House of the Dead I realized how much of a lag there is when moving the gun toward a target in the wii duck shooting game. I then bought Links Crossbow so I could try another rail shooter game. The problem is the aiming had the same lag as the simple wii shooting game. I gave the Crossbow game to my nephew in exchange for another Perfect Shooter handle for my wii controllers. Then I bought Ghost Squad and was back to a game with responsive aiming. It is no fun when it takes a moment for the gun to get to the target you're pointing at. That's what I found happened with Links Crossbow.
Just as a side note, I've also played Resident Evil and some popular army game. The army game was way too complicated (had too many options and weapons to pick up) and in Resident Evil I couldn't get passed the fricken scorpion on the train, so I took that back also.
