Tetris Party, the Hudson-developed, Balance Board-supporting Tetris game with more modes than you could shake an inverted L tetramino at, will be out on Japan's WiiWare store at some point next month. Unlike most Tetris games, Hudson seems to be putting some real effort into Tetris Party, coming up with some obscure (but fun-looking) variations on just dropping some blocks.
Be prepared to pay, though: at 1,200 Wii Points, this will be one of the most expensive WiiWare titles on the market. One day, we'll sit down and calculate how much money we've spent over the past 20-odd years on different Tetris games. This will probably be followed by incessant sobbing.

1200 points? Dang.
If it was 1000 points I would buy it right away. Now I might have to wait as it doesn't split a Wii Points card nice and evenly (I plan on buying Dr. Mario for 1000 points).

I'll gladly spend $12 instead of $10 for a good Tetris game on the Wii. If the game is worth the money, then I have no regrets, and frankly I would just about take the old original game for $12, so spicing it up with some new features makes this a no brainer.
If you loved Dr. Mario, you will not be disappointed in dishing $10 for that game. I think you have to be committed to the title historically though, or else it won't mean much to you.

Would buy it if it has a handicap mode for beginner players to play against more advanced players. Most problems with tetris is that I find it frustrating to play with players who are still beginning or are way too fast for me. A handicap would balance that.

Funny how our mindset of prices differs based on how the game is released.
If this game was released on disk, $12 would be the best bargain game of this generation, but because it's from WiiWare the title "will not be cheap".

Sonic_13: Actually, no. I've gotten much more complete games for $10. Godfather, for example. Blast Works is also around that price range now, unfortunately. When I had a PS2, there was a game (I don't remember the name, unfortunately) that released at around $10, and was actually fun and lasted for hours (it involved tanks or some such; the graphics were almost last-gen, but it looked alright and had tons to do). Of course, Tetris will do the same, but by the player's decision to constantly play it again and again, not by having a ton of content.
As to the price, it really shouldn't have been higher than 600-700. Really, 500 would've been a stretch. I'm sure they'll get the money out of people, because people be crazy for tetris, but tetris on a home console should never be expensive.
Although I probably wouldn't buy it anyway, I'm still waiting for a Tetris DS rerelease.

On day one I'll be picking this up. I played the heck out of Tetris DS (still do); adding in some new modes, more players in multiplayer AND balance board support? Awesome.
