But all of that is just a leadup to the real magic trick that separates this thing from other chargers: it charges without any metal contacts, and will charge a battery through a silicone cover. If you actually use your Wii Remote Jackets, you can leave them on when you dock your Wiimotes to charge. That is really, really cool. No word on whether or not this charger will melt your controllers.

I always thing about getting something like this, but I think I'll hold off until after Wii Sports Resort comes out and we see how these work with the Wii MotionPlus adapter. Maybe you just have to remove it, or maybe they will have new charging stations where you don't need to? I'll wait and see.

I had a toothbrush that did this once. I thought it was cool, because the brush part was totally waterproof, even though it was electric and had a battery inside. But then I got a waterpik sprayer thing, which was just so insanely superior that I let the toothbrush get moldy and gross. So I donated it to a thrift shop. It was cool because you can just buy new brush heads for it.

I've been very happy with my Nyko charger, but I was disappointed that I had to take off the 4 covers that I had for all of my remotes in order to charge them. I ended up keeping the covers off them completely out of convenience which ended up being a waste of money. I too would like to see something that will allow me to re-charge my own rechargeable batteries as well, but I'm content with the lithium batteries thus far.

It is somewhat strange, I thought that this article would be about the Nintendo-Sanyo deal to make official rechargeable batteries and charger for the Wii Remotes using Eneloop technology in the battery cells.
