We've had Aerosmith, we might be getting Metallica, and, if we believe the words of Guns N' Roses axe-wielder Slash, we could yet see Hendrix. Whether you like them or not, one-band Guitar Hero titles appear to be on the rise, which leads to the inevitable question: if you occupied a position of great importance at Activision, who would you base a Guitar Hero game on?

Nintendo characters - I would love to see the various Nintendo cast in the GH series playing their respective themes. That would at least make some great DLC.

I don't like Guitar Hero, but if I had to pick, I'd go with The Beatles, just so I could have an easy, obvious Christmas or birthday present for my mom for once.

The Clash, Husker Du, Sex Pistols. I refuse to buy GH until I can get some decent punk music, and no Blink 182 does not count, though I will give you Green Day as passable.

i've thought long and hard about this one, because it seems that few bands could actually sustain a full setlist of their songs without it getting boring. plus, they'd have to be able to appeal to the entire guitar hero audience, not just core fans of the band.
using those conditions, i'd have to say:
van halen
led zeppelin
ac/dc
guns n' roses
i think, though, that one of the most fun guitar hero ideas would be one that has all one-hit wonders from the 1990s, mixed with some pearl jam, alice in chains, nirvana, and soundgarden tracks. they've done it for the 80s, why not the 90s?

Queen, the most rockingest band ever. Who wouldn't want to shred out [or on the wii-drum set, pound out] to "Fat Bottom Girls?" C'mon! Make Freddy Mercury proud!
Maybe even a special addition that includes sequined tights and fake mustaches?

Don't shoot me here...Franz Ferdinand.
Yes, there isn't enough material by them to build a game around, and yes, they're even less popular than Aerosmith, but the guitar riffs on most of their songs are incredibly catchy and sound like they would be incredibly fun to play. E.g.
Come on Home
The Dark of the Matinee
Take Me Out (but the actual version this time, not some rubbish cover)
The Fallen
What You Meant
Walk Away
Michael
You're the Reason I'm Leaving
I'd love to see a Franz Ferdinand-themed one, despite what people would think. Or, at the very least, a Franz Ferdinand track pack as DLC on the next game.

There's a big difference between bands with good songs and bands that would be fun to play on Guitar Hero.
Led Zepp would be awesome although they tend to be overly protective of their rights.
Queens of the Stone Age is my pick, all of their songs have crazy solos and often have breakdowns, speedups, alternate choruses that change things up so you aren't strumming the same pattern over and over.

Guitar Hero: Yardbirds
featuring all of their former guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, & Jimmy Page
you then unlock bonus tracks by Jimmy Page's band "New Yardbirds"/Led Zeppelin
other tracks provided by other 60's bands at the time or dlc by The Who, Small Faces, MC5, The Animals, The Troggs, etc.
(i'm not really that old, just my love of the Beatles spilled over into the other British Invasion groups of the 60's)

They are absolutely perfect for a new Guitar Hero game. Different eras, different costumes, even different band members... could all be unlockable content.
