The workweek is nearly over, which means it's time again to rehash the delightful, if discontinuous, mythology of the Mushroom Kingdom and its many colorful characters. Last week we had you grinding the gears of mini-boss semantics while ogling the usual gallery-candy, and today we want to continue in a similar vein. But let's up the ante, shall we? Who are the real bosses Mario has battled? No more of this egg-spitting mediocrity and three-hit nonsense. Half-assed baddies, step aside.
The road has been long for Mario, and each of his victories have been marked with the defeat of a substantial villain, restoring order to various kingdoms and rescuing their fair and easily kidnapped damsels. The extended Koopa Troop family has long been a threat to the 'stache, but who are these other punitive powers that precede the credit screens? Let's take a gander at final bosses in a new gallery rife with heavyweight evildoing.

I trust you're up to the task of making the Wario feature an essay in awesomeness?
Also: You forgot Count Bleck. Or at least Dimentio

That's fair, and I do have some images/captions for both Shadow Queen and Super Dimentio, but it occurred to me that very few people know/care about them. They were the weakest links. I might have known you'd bemoan their absence, Mr. Khan. :-)
Maybe this should be called "Selected Final Bosses."
But yeah, Wariowariowario.

You just reminded me how much I wanted to smash my GBA to pieces while enduring the final battles of the first Mario & Luigi game. I was NOT sad to see that game pawned off to EB when I finished it because there was no way in hell I was ever going to try that again. It was fun while it lasted, but once was enough. Partners in Time; not nearly as frustrating.

Whoa! I had no idea that game caused such FURY. I only played entirely through Superstar Saga once, and I don't recall being as frustrated with the bosses.

It wasn't so bad until the very very end... when they really punish you if you suck at defensive timed hits. It made me miss Mario RPG, where the timed hits are a luxury, not a necessity.

I know not all the final bosses were there, but, come on, where's Smithy?

Bleck and his minions were all quite well-drawn, IMO.
Except Mimi. I hated her forever for making me run that damn hamster wheel

Yeah, but i liked how when you fought her in the bathroom, and if you flipped into 3-D, you could see machine parts inside of her. I liked how they put that little detail in, like you can figure out that she's a crazy robot or something during the battle.
(But yeah, that hamster wheel was annoying, but I put a clip on the wii remote's A button, so mario kept running on his own. XD)

Two bosses on the list stick out like a sore thumb to me, but I will admit my Mario days start from the original Mario Bros. games and Donkey Kong, through the NES days to Super Mario World, Mario 64, and now Super Mario Galaxy.
Those two bosses are none other than Bowser and the surprising candidate of Donkey Kong. These are two bosses that Mario has had major difficulty with, to the point where if he so much as touched these bosses it was Game Over. While at other times it's required Mario to be more physical to defeat these bosses.
One thing I'd like to throw out there as a forgotten foe, viruses from Dr. Mario. One simple mutation and it's goodbye Mario hello Goomba dominance.

Hooktail FTW!
I thought Doopliss was cool too (if not at least interesting).

Cackletta's Ghost gave me major headaches... I remember once fighting her for 45-minutes, and STILL getting a game over. On my second playthrough, though, I beat her on the first try. Go figure. And major props for including Fawful, one of the funniest video game characters ever. Anyone who talks about the "mustard of your doom" is OK by me.

Yes. Dimentio, Bleck, and Shadow Queen should be noted. Shadow Queen was as tough as Cackletta. Dimentio and Bleck wanted the universe to end (you can't get any maniacal than this).
