Marvelous Entertainment told The RPGO earlier this week that they had three unannounced projects for the US in the works. NeoGAFfer Botticus reports that the latest issue of Nintendo Power confirms the identity of one of those projects as Vanillaware's Oboro Muramasa Youtouden!
The publication announced that Marvelous/XSEED plans to release the side-scrolling ARPG from the Odin Sphere creators as Muramasa: The Demon Blade sometime in 2009. Having heard absolutely nothing about the game's progress since troubling news in April, this announcement, in addition to letting us know it's coming out here, serves to reassure us that it's coming out at all.

Awesome! This is far and away one of my most anticipated Wii games, so official confirmation of a US release is excellent news.

EPIC WIN. I loved Odin Sphere to death, and I was worried that this one was going to be canceled. Apparently not! *W*

Fuck yeah. 2009 just keeps looking better and better. All we need is for someone to start talking Fire Emblem DS, Fatal Frame IV, Monster Hunter 3, and Captain Rainbow localizations, and i'll be set for the year, not to mention whatever long-term projects Nintendo has in store.

I'm so thrilled by this game. When I saw Wario Land: Shake It I thought I'd never like a 2D sprite game again. But every time I see shots of this one I can't help but want it -badly.

Bloody hell, I'm about to explode here. How many great things have been announced for the Wii yet and nothing is released!? I'm still waiting on Fatal Frame which is over in Japan doing whatever. Bring the game here! It's done already right? I seriously can't take it, stellar line up and nothing to show... damn geographic location.

I always thought GrimGrimoire and Odin Sphere looked really interesting, but I've never played them, partly because their "magical fantasy" styles slightly put me off.
But now that Vanillaware is coming out with Muramasa in a Japanese setting, there's no way I could resist buying this game; I love (feudal) Japanese history and culture too much.
Really very truly happy a US release was announced! :D
