Nick Hager, producer on de Blob, isn't too jazzed at the idea of MotionPlus. It's not that he doesn't like the tech, he just has a problem seeing the majority of people that enjoy Wii on a regular basis want to play with the new peripheral."While it's definitely intellectually stimulating from a development perspective to play with those ideas - and I think it does appeal to a set of gamers out there - I think the majority of people that play on the Wii want something very simple that they can just immediately get their heads around," Hagger said. Does he mean the casual crowd that bought Wii Fit and played it once? Is he talking about the people that nabbed the system only for Wii Sports?
Is 1:1 movement really that much of a leap for the casual crowd that are looking for a simple experience? We'd think not, because it's basically the same deal: moving the Wiimote to afftect things in-game. That's what got most into the console in the first place, so if the tech works a bit better, how is it deterring the extremely casual crowd away from the system?

Because it may confuse them. Because they won't know what it's for or whether they need it. Because they won't know what games use it and what games don't. Because they won't know if this makes the ordinary Wiimote or the games obsolete without it.
Nintendo has gone to great pains to tell us (over and over again....) about how casual gamers need/want things as simple as possible. This is why I see MotionPlus as very risky for them, as it could easily complicate and confuse the casual gamers.

The internet needs to seriously chill out...

I think that the MotionPlus pretty much just makes the Wii Remote what it was supposed to be in the first place. The whole 1:1 thing was what pretty much everyone was expecting the Remote to be able to do from the get go.
All in all, I think that eventually they may just release the Wii Remote 2.0 that has this thing built in, and it will most definitely be built into the Wii 2's controllers.
Than again, I could be wrong. Nintendo's obviously not shy about doing the whole controller-in-a-bunch-of-pieces-that-you-have-to-buy-separately thing, and they don't really need to be as people keep on buying the things.

I can't believe how many say
it "should have had it from the beginning"
the gyroscopes available during wii's development weren't at all suited to this purpose. technology starts out being crap, and develops over time.
also this:
"assumed it'd be that way"
wait what? that'd be like assuming you'd grow up to be a billionaire even though there
was nothing to indicate you having anything above middle class income.

these comments beliefs and utter stupidity's only exist on the internet they don't exist in real life
why would a dev just releasing a core type game on wii then go and sound like a epic employee and call wii and wii
1to1 is imursive for all expansive to core gamers but also pick up and play
how is 1to1 a copy of real life moments confusing or hard
shut the fuk up thats a developer making excuses to be lazy and generic
