Resident Evil sure looks familiar, doesn't it? That's probably because this latest Capcom port is just the GameCube version with a dash of motion. That isn't to say it doesn't look good (it does), it's just that this game has been remade, reworked, and re-released a lot.
How many times do we need to replay great games -- particularly when we can already play them on the system in question?
See Resident Evil again for the very first time

Nintendo should just start a budget line of games and call it "waggle." Seeing as there is already an unofficial one.

How about instead of this, we get a remake of the first 3 RE games in the RE4 engine, with 3D camera to match. I know many people would say that defeats the purpose, but I think it's only logical that the characters should be able to see three feet in front of themselves.

A new generation of gamers means a new generation to be exposed to the game. For someone who's first console is the Wii, they are probably more likely to get a "new" RE for the Wii than they are to hunt down the GCN version. It makes sense from Capcom's perspective.
RE's not my kind of game though. Now, an Eternal Darkness update of some sort (port, sequel, etc) I might bite. Though, I'm not holding my breath.

basically Capcom is still trying to off set the loss on the development of these games. I remember when RE0 and this remake were anounces for the Cube and I like many were estatic, but when they came out they sold less then most would have thought. So now Capcom is re-distributing them as Wii games too see if the larger audience will bite, can't blame them given Umbrella Chronicles & RE4 Wii sales numbers

I wish they would re-release it and fix the controls. I can't force myself to play it with the old controls.

There Probably Porting RE0 and RE1 For 2 Reasons
A-A quick Cash in(possible But i Don't Think Is The Main Cause)
OR
B-Testing the market out To See If Wii Fans Will Buy These And Then Think About Remaking RE2,RE3:NEMESIS and RE:CVX(Hopefully This Is The Cause)
