But seriously, we can handle the generic characters, weapons, and enemies -- we're used to that in RPGs -- but can we dispense with that very soft, very muted look for Wii games? We can do better than this.

I like the soft, muted look. It makes it have more of a painterly, fantasy feel about it.

That art style works, why mess with it?

I wouldn't call it bitching. Alisha has a point: it does all look a little hackneyed, a little safe - it screams conservatism, that's for sure.

Whine whine whine. Christ, it seems like unless an RPG is a big name title around here all you people do is bitch about it. First Luminous Arc 2 not being "up to par" with FFTA-2, now this.
At some point -every- RPG character is going to get called generic at this point, regardless of whether or not they even remotely resemble another game's designs. I'll agree the main character is pretty simple, but at least he doesn't have spikey hair. The main females don't look like -any- other game I can think of though, so quit complaining.
As for the color palette, I adore the look of FF:CC and Chocobo's Dungeon. Heaven forbid a game doesn't look like every other CG cutscene out there. First you complain about supposed generic design, then you complain about a different art style! Make up your mind!

When you don't have a range that's let's say, high and dynamic, it's best to pretend that a constant glare from the sun is preventing the world's full gamut from unleashing itself.

looks awesome, the combat system just by screenshot reminds me of Grandia 2. Not the graphics exactly though. Unsure if I will spend in this or last remnant though. Doesn't really have to do with graphics as it does feel. Last Remnant looks awesome and to some degree different.

god, i couldn't agree with you more!!! EVERY SINGLE TIME a CORE game gets released for the Wii all these people do is "whine whine whine"!! ok yeah sure, it COULD look better in terms of graphics but come on people!! to all the whiners out there! i thought you guys wanted more CORE GAMES and that they didn't HAVE TO BE GRAPHICAL? jesus! make up your mind people! you can't expect a Wii to pull perfectly pull of what the PS3 and 360 can pull off! you got a CORE GAME noe BE HAPPY WITH IT! at least GIVE IT A TRY! most of you people give a game a shot and know that its gameplay is great, the controls are sweet, the story is great but its no ff7, and the music is pretty pleasant and yet because the graphics suck ASS or because you don't have lots of ON SCREEEN ENEMIES ALL AT ONE TIME you say it sucks and you just don't wanna play it anymore! you guy's are more picky then a stuck up female! sheesh!

That statement makes me very sad for RPGs.

I have no real opinion of the game itself, but I'm highly amused at the picture of King Behemoth from "Final Fantasy XI."
Needs more tarutaru.
