Nintendo used the first Family Ski from Namco Bandai (called We Ski here) as a showcase for the Balance Board, to show that the board could be used for more than exergaming. One of the next titles to use the Wii Fit peripheral will be ... the sequel to Family Ski!
Called Family Ski: World Ski & Snowboard, the new game adds (obviously) one new method of downhill transport, the snowboard. The snowboard can be operated like the snowboard in Wii Fit, using a rotated Balance Board, or with the Wiimote alone. The new game also features a new locale, the Jamboree Snow Resort, with all-new courses.

I'm looking forward to this.
I currently have the first one about 50% completed, so far the game continues to deliver. And I enjoy all the Namco game references.
The Balance Board support was a nice plus, but a bit simple, so there's plenty of room for improvement. On the other hand, the remote-nunchuck combo already works flawless and feels very natural, so should they keep the controls unchanged, part 2 will at least offer one solid control scheme
Looks like they're also improving the graphics a bit, nice!

A whole game based on Wii Fit skiing? The downhill slalom is actually a lot harder than it looks! I'm not sure if I could handle a whole game of it, especially since I don't ski in real life.

I'm hoping in this version they relax the restrictions so that you can go off piste.
It doesn't have to be as complicated as heading off into the yonder, but it would be nice to be able to be able to run slightly off the course and not feel like you're hitting an invisible brick wall. Real skiing isn't like that.
Even better if you can use the functionality to cut across from one piste to another. Useful if you take a wrong turn and something that people do when they're properly skiing.

Ever since the Balance Board was announced I had a feeling snowboarding games would become the new minigame compilations. I dread to think how much Balance Board-compatible snowboarding shovelware is going to be released over the next year or so.
