Hudson has been responsible for more import games on the US Virtual Console than anyone, and they've announced an October release that's exciting for a couple of reasons. The first, and most obvious, reason is that it's Gradius II: GOFER no Yabou, the PC Engine CD-ROM port of a Gradius game that has never been available in the US (except on the PSP). Sure, the VC is saturated with shmups, but not nearly enough of them are Gradius. The second, more speculative reason we're excited is that this is an import PC Engine CD-ROM game from Konami. The game we want more than any other on the Virtual Console is also a Konami game, and also on that system.
Hudson is also releasing the import Digital Champ Battle Boxing in October. It's ... not very good!

Gradius II is AMZING.
More people should be commenting.
And speaking of the above image: I love the crystal level's music.

Also, they need to put up the PC Engine version of Salamander next. Best music, and second-hardest version. (The MSX version is the hardest)

I love the final stage, and stage 2.

The Gradius games always look so familiar, but I'm not sure whether I've played them or just gotten used to the way they look over time. Like the Easter Island heads and the crystals.

Where the hell is Gradius Rebirth? Japan has had it for like a month!
I demand my Gradius Rebirth... and Konami start work on Axelay 2 immediately.

Now that Konami is getting a taste of the VC bug, why not Parodius, too?
Indeed Castlevania X, SOTN, and Castlevania 3 all desperately need to come to VC.
